Randy Price Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I fish a lot with spinner baits and most if not all use treble hooks. As we all know treble hooks are a pain to remove from fish so can you just replace the treble with a single hook or it just easier to snip off two of the existing hooks? Quote
rangerjockey Posted February 14 Posted February 14 You must fish a different kind of spinnerbait than I do. 2 Quote

padlin Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I use Mepps too and have tried both snipping and replacing a couple years ago, neither worked great. I was unable to find hooks the right sizes so they ended up with oversized. I use mostly #1 and 2’s. Snipping was easier but didn’t run well, try it and see what you think. I have all 3 with me when I fish and end up with the trebles more often than not. Cushing the barbs helps, if you don’t mind missing a few fish. Quote

I guess technically a spinnerbait, but not what most call a spinnerbait. You'll have to play with it on the water. For the most part, swapping to a single single hook you'd upsize a size or two. Next time you're out, snip two points and see how it runs for you. And have a spare single hook ready to swap in if it doesn't look great. 1 Quote

Super User fishballer06 Posted February 14 Super User Posted February 14 Cut off the treble. Put on a small split ring and a single hook. 2 Quote
