Uni knot is alright - I prefer the MK as it puts two bights of line through the eye giving it more strength there and it's a little easier to tie as you're not trying to feed the tag end through a loop multiple times, just once at the end.

 

I do use the double uni - to attach my main line to my backing....but that's the only time I use it.

Funny you say that, the only time I felt I got a bad spool of FC line besides some clearance KastKing stuff, was in fact Red Label.

 

Happened multiple times from the same spool.    Stuff is terrible in my experience.

I tried Red Label once...didn't even keep it for leader material - tossed the remainder of the spool in the 'circular file'.

I have 12# red label on my 5XD/6XD setup. Only problem I’ve had is it fraying up by the bait.

I'm liking that knot because of the double line through the eye. It may become the replacement for my favorite double Pitzen, AKA the Jimmy Houston knot.

Next to Tatsu, Invisx is the best handling flouro I've used. I would highly doubt that the spool is bad either. If it breaks close to the knot it either got nicked on something or possibly burned when you cinched it down. Always wet the knot.

     I've been using Fluorocarbon as a main line on most of my reels.  I think you've got it with your diagnosis. I have had experiences where the line broke from kinking several times. The kinks were a result from picking out backlashes. I have found since then that "gently" picking out backlash without hard tugging on the line has eliminated my line breakage from kinking. 

     I have tried many of the brands of Fluorocarbon from almost all of the major brands.  I've settled on three. My most preferred now is Diawa Samurai, Both Seaguar Tatsu and Invisx are the other two. With Tatsu being the best of Seaguar's offerings.  The Samurai and the Tatsu can be had sort of reasonable priced by watching for sales. I do the same thing as one of the other posters said. I spool about a third or half way with mono and top shot 60-70 yards of Fluoro.

     MickD is "spot on" Fluoro is very finicky.  It doesn't like to be kinked or stretched hard.

MNfisher, I'm going to have to try that MK knot. I've been using the improved clinch knot forever and it does the job very well.  The SDJ knot is another that is high up on my radar for fluorocarbon knots.

I’ve been using Yozuri Hybrid for maybe 23 years. Recently I bought a spool of Daiwa Samurai FC in 22 for flipping & short pitches. No problems yet, but, I don’t have a lot of time with it. Something else, IMO, the difference between the two aforementioned lines as far as sensitive is very thin. If I have much trouble with it I’ll just go back to Yo or CXX as I’m very use to the unruly behavior of the heavier lines. I do like the Daiwa line. Time will tell.
