ScorpiFish Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Was at Walmart this morning and noticed that they have Falcon EVO casting rods on clearance for $20! Thinking about going back and picking up a couple. Thoughts? Quote
MyKeyBe Posted February 6 Posted February 6 If you need a couple of rods then yes, that is a fantastic deal. I don't own any evos but I do have an hd and it's a very nice rod for what it is. $20.00 might end up being the best fishing deal of the century. Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted February 6 Super User Posted February 6 This is not surprising. On the falcon rods thread we were talking about just that- the rationalization between the HD, Evo, and new Atrax. Quote
wvhunt Posted February 7 Posted February 7 It depends upon the store. Two stores within an hours drive of me have had certain Evo rods for $32 for a few weeks now, but not all models. My local store still has all of them still at full price. The two stores with the discounted rods also had certain Abu Garcia Vendetta rods marked down to $36, but again not all the models. Quote
CDMTJager Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Thanks for the info. Ill just have to take a ride to the zoo AKA my local walmart. Quote
Flyfish-mt Posted Monday at 01:18 PM Posted Monday at 01:18 PM I picked up a Falcon EVO VFC-4-166 (6'6") Med action for $32 this past weekend at Walmart. Looks to make a nice popper/jerkbait rod. I'm still using an old Team Daiwa-S 6'3" for my topwater and this seems to have more of a parabolic flex to it....... Quote

Also would be a nice small crankbait rod for squarebills and smaller DT4 types. I have an older st croix with the same spec/flex and its a neat little rod for a couple specific things. Quote

Many top water rods have too long of a handle. Sounds like you’re a hardcore Pop-R guy with a handle like Zell-Pop1. Many people here are too young to know who Zell Rowland is……. The master of the Rebel Pop-R!! Was at my local Wally and picked up a 6’8” Falcon EVO. It’ll compliment my old Team Daiwa LT 6’6” Wormin’/Jiggin’ rod. Quote

Yes the Xcalibur popper Zell designed was my favorite, though now I like the Lucky Craft one better. My best jerkbait is a Lucky Craft as well. I went to my local wally world today and all the Falcon EVOs on clearance were gone. There are still 2 of each 7' MH casting and 7' M spinning as they are not marked down. I have a Falcon 6'8" Lowrider i bought 10 years ago, it is a good all purpose rod, you will like yours. Quote
