BlakeMolone Posted Saturday at 10:30 PM Posted Saturday at 10:30 PM A summer craw rage menace with a 3/0 ewg or flipping hook and a 1/4 or 5/16th ounce weight or a sweet beaver in some kind of green pumpkin or black with a 4/0 ewg or flipping hook and those same bullet weights are what I would use for flipping. A 7 inch red shad or tequila sunrise powerworm on a 1/8th or 3/16th ounce bullet weight and a 3/0 or 4/0 worm hook for slow dragging around wood, rock, vegetation or literally anything, especially post spawn and through the summer. Realistically those baits would have done everything I needed a Texas rig to do out in Oklahoma. 2 Quote

bottom_dollar Posted Sunday at 03:09 PM Posted Sunday at 03:09 PM I like a 3/16ths bullet weight, 3/0 owner cover shot HD hook, with either speed worm or a baby d bomb.. that’s the starting point but I like to get carried way and will have 3-4 different types of Texas rigs tied up depending on what I want to do that day. 2 Quote

KP Duty Posted Sunday at 03:59 PM Posted Sunday at 03:59 PM Season/conditions dictate my choice. Trending pitching baits are: Tubes and RI 5.2" beaver. 2 Quote

I’m curious how much bigger it really is. 1 Quote

I don't have any 4.2" beavers to give you a comparison pick. Quote

Alright everyone gave their top choice, what's your second choice for weight and plastic? If I get to pick two, and the first is the beaver with a 3/8 weight, then the second is 1/8 oz and a smaller plastic. If forced to choose its probably a boar hogz but I could be convinced by any number of 5-6" worms. With these two, you've got faster and slower fall rates. With the beaver you can cover some water quickly or pitch to targets. With the lighter one you're slowing down (or pitching to targets) and also offering a much skinnier profile. Quote

I'm in the 1% of bassers that rarely throws the t-rig. My fishing partner who I've dubbed the speedmaster due to his proficiency and success with the speed worm has opened my eyes to it. Although it is a long standing Florida staple I only now can see the versatility of this rig as it can not only be cast and swam as is it commonly is, but effectively pitched and fished like a traditional worm. So my one and only Texas rig is the standard size speed worm with a 3/16oz weight in junebug or gp. For hooks I like the Mustad Tactical Bass Alpha Grip. 2 Quote
