Hello folks. I have been fishing New Jersey's waters (fresh and salt) for a bit over 20 years. I have lived in various parts of the state and grew up fishing for LMB, trout, and catfish in the north before returning to the shore and focusing on surfcasting for stripers and bluefish. I recently moved to Burlington County, so I am delving back into the freshwater game after years away, this time with a kayak.

I have been doing this for a bit, but I have found that you are never really done finding new experiences and evolutions of your craft in a sport like this. I will do my best to give at least as much as I take.

Welcome!  I’m up in morris county. Not a native NJ guy but been here 5 years now, all focused on bass in freshwater.

I actually grew up in Morris County, despite being from Ocean County. Spent nearly all of my summers as a kid fishing those ponds and rivers. There are some great locations if you are willing to put the time in.

I'm in the upper south branch valley (the trout end of it) so yeah, I hear you.  I have yet to fish the raritan for smallies though I'm sure they are there.  If I were 10 years younger I would have taken a summer day and wet waded it by now but it's a lot easier to just drop the boat into one of the lakes.  I have yet to find a pond worth fishing.  My first year here I scoured google maps and put a lot of time in exploring but I have to say that bank fishing in general here is a tough go.  Boat on the other hand, there are 8-10 lakes within 35 minutes of here that are all worth fishing and turn out something worth fishing for.
