DaubsNU1 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 So this arrived in the mail yesterday, I haven't seen one of these in years. Interesting to leaf through.... Old buddy of mine used to work for cabela's, and talked about how they laid out those catalogs. Interesting to see that Bass Pro puts the Ranger boats on page 215? Lots of emphasis early in the catalog on forward facing sonar and forward facing sonar lures. ....and 20 minutes later....catalog going in the recycle bin. Far easier to search online. 6 Quote
KP Duty Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I agree that it is easier to browse online. Maybe if they stopped producing the catalog, they could offer competitive pricing. Just a thought... 3 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted January 26 Super User Posted January 26 Mine came. I may look at it if we get snowed in. They aren’t competitive on lots of stuff and their name brand sales are usually regular price unless it is a model close out. 1 Quote
Craig P Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I was surprised to see one in my mailbox the other day. Not many companies do that anymore. I wish I had kids young enough who could fawn over them and circle things they wanted for Xmas like we use to do with Sears, Best, JCPenney, etc. catalogs when we were kids. 3 Quote
volzfan59 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Personally I’m looking forward to getting my 2025 BPS catalog. I order tackle and clothing from BPS quite often as the closest store is over 2.5 hours away. They are a little more pricey unless you catch a sale. One thing about BPS, unlike TW (twice) my card has never been compromised. 5 Quote
nso123 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I used to flip through these for hours as a little kid. I would imagine having all of the different colors of worms and other soft plastics. Now my son does it too. 4 Quote
Super User gim Posted January 26 Super User Posted January 26 I got mine too. I keep it on the coffee table to look at. 3 Quote

Super User FishTank Posted January 27 Super User Posted January 27 I haven't got mine yet but I look forward to it every year. I thumb through it about once a week just for the fun of it. Working in printing, I don't always agree with how they arrange the pages or how they choose to not put certain things in there but it's always good to have. 4 Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted January 27 Super User Posted January 27 Got mine Friday. Look forward to getting it each year 3 Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted January 27 Super User Posted January 27 Nostalgic for me. Unlikely to order much from them since so many other sites have a lot more stock, better prices, and sales, but I'll keep it in my truck and enjoy flipping through it from time to time this next year while killing time. Sometimes it's just nice not being on your phone or computer. 3 Quote

Good, glad that they took steps to rectify the situation. Still a solid no for me. They burned me twice, I won’t give them another chance. BPS and FishISA have everything I could possibly need. Quote

Only really order from TW when theres a good sale. Side note, anyone elses Cabelas/BPS downsizing the fishing section displays? I went to the biggest Cabelas in the USA last night, theres no more clearance area for fishing gear, only about 6-10 Daiwa/Shimano rods and reels combined, 4 Lews reels and only the KVD rods on display. Theres a few Abu rods and reels too. I know they are moving towards over saturating the store with house brand gear, but even that wasnt much. I found 1 BPS Cranking Stick and one only. (there werent any open spots in the displays either so they were fully stocked) I know its just a display but i remember it being much, much bigger just a few years ago. Walked through all the aisles with cash burning a whole in my pocket and managed to avoid buying a single item. But atleast now i know what i want come the Spring Classic, which was the whole point of the trip anyways. Quote
bassmedic46 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I didn’t realize they still sent out the catalog. I haven’t seen anywhere where you can order one on their site. 1 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted January 27 Super User Posted January 27 I remember the leather bound catalogs that used to go out to VIP members. I always got one being on pro staff. I got the newest and put it in my truck to take to the farm studio apartment we are staying in and will leave it for those that come after us. I pretty much know the layout by heart with only the pricing changes. Working events in the store had me escorting a lot of people to isles for products out of the catalog. 1 Quote

The old “Bargain Cave” is a thing of the past at the one I frequent though. It’s been gone for a while. Right now there is a sizable display for ice fishing gear too but that is a seasonal thing that will be done in a month or so. Quote

My buddy who worked for Cabela's at the HQ in Sidney, Nebraska used to be in charge of the Bargain Cave. He also ran the sidewalk sales. I got some smoking deals back in the day. Sad they no longer do either. 2 Quote
Super User Bird Posted January 28 Super User Posted January 28 Don't understand the misconception ❓ good company. We use the credit card all year, vacations and whatever. At the end of each year with all the points, we buy clothes and everything outdoors for free....... with the points. Just don't let the interest get away. Quote
