Super User gim Posted January 25 Super User Posted January 25 Went to the Mpls Boat Show for a couple hours this morning. Lots of nice boats to look at, sit in, and dream about owning. Most are out of my budget. But I like looking anyways. I consider this event the unofficial "halfway" point of winter here. Onward towards spring now. 10 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Ahhh you can swing that . Just eat only Ramon noodles for the next 30 years. 7 Quote
MediumMouthBass Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Bass and walleye fishing are the most expensive hobbies a man can have I remember when i would fish for trout only years ago, when i first got into fly fishing i was shocked and laughed at spending $1000 on everything i would need, from rod, reel, line, flies.... I thought to myself i can make do with $200 in total, anything after that id be stupid! Several years later i now consider that pocket change compared to what ive felt "necessary" to spend for bass fishing. 3 hours ago, Susky River Rat said: Ahhh you can swing that . Susky River Rat Posted January 25 Posted January 25 @MediumMouthBass if he only eats every other day he can buy brand name. Bass fishing is only as expensive as you make it. The more serious someone gets into it the more expensive it seems to get. I’m still under my racing budget a year. 2 Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted January 25 Super User Posted January 25 That boat is made in Tennessee. It’s worth twice that much. 😁 2 4 Quote

Susky River Rat Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I would be curious to know how many of these 100k bass boats are actually sold a year. Quote
Super User Swamp Girl Posted January 25 Super User Posted January 25 There are bodies of water where you might need a boat that big and that fast and that equipped with electronics to catch bass, but on lots of water, you can catch big bass and some days, lots of bass with lots less. See @Pat Brown, @AlabamaSpothunter, @pdxfisher, @N Florida Mike, @thediscochef, @PhishLI, @Aaron_H, @Fried Lemons, @Scott W, @Bluebasser86, and many others. Some of these guys don't even have a boat and when @Fried Lemons floats, he's fishing from a board with his feet dangling. Then there's @TnRiver46, who catches bass from every conceivable craft. If I had a hundred grand bass boat, I'd feel soooooooo much pressure to catch soooooooo many big bass and to put everyone I know on their PBs. Like the Bible says, to whom more is given, more is expected. 8 3 Quote

Super User Bird Posted January 25 Super User Posted January 25 A 100k bass boat is mind boggling. If I had Elon Musk money I'd still likely look at much cheaper options. They are cool to look at though. 4 Quote

Susky River Rat Posted January 26 Posted January 26 There are people that buy 80k rock proof style boats with every intent to run them over rock ledges and treat them like a demo derby car where I fish. @gim I watch a YouTube boat ramp channel from down south. It amazes me what boats people have down there easy 250k for most of them. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 26 Global Moderator Posted January 26 I have exactly 1 payment left on my boat, I couldn’t imagine the payment on one of those. 4 Quote

And this is why I include pretty pics in my fishing reports, as well as critter counts. Yep, it's not just catching bass. 3 hours ago, Bluebasser86 said: I have exactly 1 payment left on my boat, I couldn’t imagine the payment on one of those. I'm guessing you outfish the majority of the guys who buy $100,000 boats. 2 Quote

Super User J Francho Posted January 26 Super User Posted January 26 The boats I have been looking at come in just under $200k. I'd go a little bigger but then I'd have to consider the tow vehicle not being a daily driver. While there was the insane covid spike in prices, the market has softened a bit. Quote

Super User Swamp Girl Posted January 26 Super User Posted January 26 $100,000 is chump change. I'm looking to build a $4,000,000 canoe. It will have a swimming pool, helicopter pad, and discotheque. It will, of course, be impossible to paddle, so I'm hoping I can catch a bass while it's docked. Quote

I like fishing and catching too though. 3 Quote
