Just curious how XPS fluro stacks up against Berkley Vanish...which is what I've been using for a few years. To me Vanish is ok but on the stiff side. Thanks in advance.

To me fluoro is nothing more than a marketing scam, along with a huge mess of a line.

Vanish is among the worst of the worst and caused my hatred for all of fluorocarbon line. - Former Vanish user.

Out of the three major line types, I feel like fluoro is the one you get what you paid for. Some budget friendly mono and braids are quite good, but I have never tried a budget friendly fluoro that outperformed or matched more expensive ones. I think that's one of the reasons people are turning away from fluoro, too much preliminary investment before you get to the good ones.

Too much investment even for the good ones.

Just to spool my one reel with good quality flouro it  would cost about $20 atleast.

Then would last about a half year to a year before needing to be replaced again.

As well as needing special treatment/conditioner frequently, or the mess and disaster i mentioned happens with the line.

Hybrid costs me $6 on sale to buy 600 yards, pickerel bite offs are the same ratio as when i used fluoro. Also lasts longer in rocks/zebra mussels (my experience), casts far, no conditioner or special care required. No issues with the wind, nor does it bunch up and leave a bunch of knots.

Has the perfect mix of sensitivity and that little bit of stretch to set the hook and keep the big ones pinned. After 2-3 years of having it on my reels i finally changed it, not because it needed it. Only because after fishing the dirty Susky the line was brownish yellow.

Then theres fluoros biggest issues. #1. The knot has to be tied perfectly, you cant cross the line. Or say goodbye to that lure on the slightest hang up or big bass bite.

#2. It breaks so easily compared to everything else on the market.

When i fished for trout i would respool my reel monthly, at the end of the month the spool would be at 50% full or empty depending on how you look at life.

Break off, after break off. Even after buying better stuff, doing the correct knot, etc....

If this happened with good stuff, then you can imagine how absolutely terrible the Berkley Vanish i used went. And at one time i actually thought i was getting it for a steal for the $15 i paid for the big bulk spool on sale....

You get what you pay for with FC. I’ve been using P-Line Tactical and Daiwa Samurai for the past 5 years, I’ve never had a knot fail or any mystery break offs. No conditioner is needed either.

I would stick with Invisx or Sniper and I like Tatsu the best. I can easily fill 2 reels with the 165 yd spool and backing.

When it starts getting nicked up I tie it to a fence post and walk it out to the backing knot cut it and find a handy kid or Wife to hold that end and tie the fence end to backing and wind it back up.

Like new.. I can get a year out of it.

I never use any sort of conditioner or spray.

I’ve been a hardcore YH user for years, I also use CX and CXX on spinning but this past year I bought 22 pound Daiwa Samurai and I like it. Very much so..it’s on a 8:1 Bantam which is on a 895 GLX and it’s perfect for me.

I also tried Vanish when it first came out and discarded it the first time I used it.  I've been using Vicious FC for at least 10 years on a baitcaster and even if it gets a bit shredded it works.

I’m not a fluoro fan really but use 10# abrazix with no trouble to speak of. I know suppliers of store brands change but xps did very well in a shootout comparison a while ago.

I had terrible experiences with Vanish line and leader material.  The leader had a nick every 6' or 7' on the entire spool.  IDK how it happened.

There are guys who use heavy vanish like 20# and up as leader for inshore fishing in Florida and they love it.

Berkley Vanish poison the brand with the original and never recovered. Berkley came out with 100% FC ( larger diameter per lb test) to recover their reputation.

BPS XPS changes suppliers could be OK or not?

Go with Sunline Sniper good value and reliable.
