Looking for a sub $130, I’m thinking a LEWS LFS70ML, just cause it fits the specs and price point I want, and is cork. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lews_LFS_Casting_Rods/descpage-LFSC.html

Is anyone familiar with one of these? As I’ve never seen or held one it’s a crap shoot so I’m open to other options, if they match the specs and don’t go over the price. A few inches shorter would be fine too.

This will be used for small plastics, and small spinner baits like beetle spins and Mepps early in the season. I’ll be pairing it with a Stradic if it matters.

I’m not trying to sound like a jerk but your link shows a casting rod and your post title says spinning rod. Considering you’re pairing it with a Stradic I’m assuming spinning. Also how old is the rod? The reason I ask is St Croix has great customer service and may surprise you with a few options you didn’t know about. The premiere has a 5 year warranty but I believe the older models the warranty was quite a bit longer than that.

Warranty that Premier and use that $130 to bump up to a Victory, or swing a little more and get a Legend Tournament.

The 6’10” MLXF in either line is an absolute weapon. I have the LTB and love it for everything from neds to drop shots and little spinners

Ehhhh, theres a few guys i know and even more online here/youtube/reddit/facebook that are echoing St Croixs not what it used to be. Reel seats breaking, coming loose, rods snapping easily after a few casts. Replacements they paid for doing the same when they get them. Along with cheapening out severly on the guides for certain expensive models.

But its a hit or miss situation, some guys are getting rods lasting over a few hundred fish without issues. And with the customer service lottery (either getting a new rod for free or paying 50% retail for a replacement)

I for one (current St Croix owner) am waiting it out to see what happens before buying any more St Croix's going forward as @padlin probably is too. Hence the not going through them for a new one.

Oddly enough one of the rods i was looking at was the new LFS rods. Its too new to get any feedback or reviews on it as not many guys have bought any yet. So its too soon to tell how it feels or if there will be any issues with the series. its currently $104 in cart at TW across the series for their sale this week, but knowing Lews will probably be around $80-90 in the future for sales.

Its an unproven rod and you @padlin will be there first batch guinea pig.

Im becoming a bigger and bigger Lews fan with each rod or reel i switch to from them but honestly i would pass on this one for the time being unless you really like it, then go for it.

But i think for the similar price a Dobyns, Shimano, Falcon, or Daiwa with the same sale would be money better spent.

My bad, I goofed up the link, went back to TD and copied t again, but I didn’t look very close the 2nd time, darn it.

The broken Premier is the 3rd time I’ve broken one. Two were stupidity on my part, the 3rd broke on a too big fish, at least that’s the moment it chose to snap. 1st break, that I won’t address, SC replaced for shipping, 2nd time I paid $70, last time, this past spring, it just went in the trash. The original was something like 10 or 15 years old, maybe even more. No complaints with their warranty, I’m just jinxed with this size rod, hence one of the reasons for a lower end rod.

I would check out the Daiwa Tatula XT 6'8" or 7' ML-F.

I grabbed the 7' medium and it's a nice rod on a budget. I think the ML might fit what your looking for.

Those would work, although the Diawa isn’t cork. The Lowrider is a back order, which would be okay as so is ice out.

I own all GLoomis rods except for one Kistler KLX casting and a recent Tatula M/XS 7’ spinning rod which I have found to be quite a pleasant rod for ned, wacky, small spinners and jerks. Price was nice too. A very light rod.

Agreed. and there is way way way too many of this popping up all over to simply believe it's user error or a rare occurrence. The guide downgrade on the avid walleye rods is downright appalling.

A real shame too, im currently stuck with a $275 Legend Glass unsure what to do with.

Past return date, if i sold it id lose a bunch of money having to heavily discount it, and even more when i go to pay income tax on the sale.

Going to a fishing show today to try and hope someone will let me trade it for a rod or reel in the $180 range....

Its a really nice looking and feeling rod. But with how St Croix's current reputation is on snapping first cast, if mine did from what ive read it would cost $110 to replace it. Just for the same thing to happen again. For $10 more than the replacement i can get a Kaden rod on sale currently....
