Brett's_daddy Posted January 23 Posted January 23 What’s the concensus on this reel!? I know generally Quantum isn’t renowned for quality but this casting reel generally has good reviews on web sites but I wondered if anyone here has personal experience. I found it for a really good deal, $75 but if it’s really not great i won’t waste money. Quote
MediumMouthBass Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Really good reel from what i can remember about the people on here commenting on a post i had about it last year. It was for sale at $100 and the masses said buy it now. At $75 i would do the same^ Dont quote me, but im pretty sure a few guys compared it to the Zillions they owned. 1 Quote
MyKeyBe Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Your not going to find a better reel at that price. Probably be hard to find a better reel for $120.00. At $75.00 I'd buy 2 for sure if I could afford it and needed a reel or two. They are really nice reels. You won't be disappointed. 1 Quote

The spool is relatively light, but I don't need a spool that deep. It's for heavy lures and heavy lines, which I don't use much. The reel should be very smooth though; I have a similar Quantum reel. Super User A-Jay Posted January 23 Super User Posted January 23 Been using Quntum reels for some time. Little to no problems, ever. Helps to maintain and not abuse them. Will be selling 'several' of these at a fisherman friently price next month. IMO a step above the S3. If you're interested, keep an eye on the Flea Market forum. A-Jay 2 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 23 Super User Posted January 23 I had the Smoke S3 and the Tour S3 and sold both but they were solid reels. They just didn't suit me and were not getting used. I would recommend them though. Quote

Blaine Donders Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I have Smoke S3’s, Tour S3, and Smoke HD’s. Excellent reels in every way except for light lure use. You will not be disappointed. Quote

Backroad Angler Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Never really thought about picking up a quantum, may think about it now. Looks pretty sweet Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted January 25 Super User Posted January 25 When I repped Quantum, the Smoke line was my favorite. Both casting, spinning and paired with smoke rods. Good performance at a good price. My only complaint was there was a lot of anti-reverse failures on the spinning reels. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 26 Posted January 26 They’re decent reel especially at that price. Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I've heard a few guys liking them for inshore/nearshore jigging, fluke and bass mostly. These guys don't use junk. Quote
