Super User Tennessee Boy Posted January 23 Super User Posted January 23 I’ve been thinking about a way to make the cold weather a bit more bearable, and I’ve come up with an idea that might be fun for all of us. Have any of you ever participated in a book club? I think we could do something similar right here on the forum. Here’s how it could work: we pick a book, then create a thread to discuss it one chapter at a time. It could be a great way to learn, share insights, and keep the fishing conversation going while we’re off the water. Would anyone be interested in doing this? Also, what books would you recommend for our first pick? Personally, I think Book 1 of the In-Fisherman Largemouth Bass Critical Concepts series would be a fantastic starting point, but there are so many great options out there. Buck Perry’s book also comes to mind as a classic. Let me know what you think—whether you’re in, and what books you’d suggest. 1 Quote

It's interesting that very few of the classic fishing books are still in print. Take a great book with well organized content and combine it with the vast level of experience and diverse thought that exist on this forum and I think something special would come of it. Quote
FishTax Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I think the challenge is exactly that, many of the great books are difficult to find. Maybe what we should do is buy the rights to them and then convert them to digital so they can be accessible to everyone. I've ready many books that weren't on kindle/etc and have wondered why the publisher hadn't done that. I assume it's a math reason or else they would. Interesting idea though. No idea if it'd be possible or the cost it may be. Sorry to go slightly off the initial intent of this, but so much great knowledge is in those old hard to find books and magazines it frustrates me that they aren't more accessible. Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted January 23 Author Super User Posted January 23 I agree. Most of them can be purchased used on Amazon and elsewhere. Some of them are expensive. If I was an author or publisher and saw my $20 book selling for $80 used I think I would print some more copies. Quote
