Rockhopper Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I am going to take the family on a week long road trip from Portland, Or down to St. George, Ut and then on to Page, Az. I want to hit up Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion National Park. We are skipping the SE corner of the state as we have been to Moab several times wheelin' in the Jeep. Has anyone ever been to either of these parks, and if so what are the "must do/see" places in these parks. We have designated a day in each park before we venture down to Page to visit antelope canyon and horseshoe bend. Quote
DaubsNU1 Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Bryce and Zion are WONDERFUL!! Wife and I visited about 10 years ago, in February. No bus rides in to Zion at that time...we just drove in. And pretty much had the park all to ourselves. Yak-Traks or ice cleats were a must. If you can swing it, highly recommend Moab and Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Beautiful! Quote

Have already been there many times over. They are definitely a must see. We are focused on the west side this time around. I was going to close the loop up from Page through Monument Valley and into Moab from the south end, but we decided to backtrack back north on I-84 and spend two nights in Park City on the way home for some epic spring skiing instead. Going to spend one night in Bryce Canyon City, one night in St George, two nights in Page, and two nights in Park City. Plus a night going and a night headed home in Boise. 1 Quote
Rockhopper Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 @DaubsNU1 Do you have any recommendations for must see things within either of those parks? Quote
Kev-mo Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Since you mention spring skiing I assume you are going when it's still "cold". I was in Zion this past September. The two main hikes are Angels Landing and The Narrows. Plenty of video/pics on the socials. However I question if either of those would be open in the cold months for safety reasons. The park itself isn't huge. If you can drive in, which I think you can in the off months, you can hit all the trail heads. You can also drive through the park. Pretty sure there is some hiking up there (the drive up/thru). The tunnel is really cool. You'd have to check the Zion site and see what's open in the spring/winter. Quote

It's been so long since we were there...hard to remember. I know we spent a whole day hiking Zion, then an entire day at Bryce. 1 Quote
