The Rooster Posted February 2 Posted February 2 No I do not believe in a lucky rod or lure. But I have had lures that consistently caught fish when other identical copies of it did not. I believe it was just some detail about that lure that was different that attracted fish to strike it. I think something about its action was what caused it. I couldn’t tell the difference in it vs an identical copy but the bass could. Eventually it became easier to tell it from the others because of wear and tear making the paint look abused but it still continued to catch fish. It was a 1/8oz Worden’s Roostertail in the glitter frog color. Everytime I used it I caught bass on it. 1 Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted February 2 Super User Posted February 2 LIke other members, I have my favorites and not 'lucky'. Quote
Junk Fisherman Posted February 2 Posted February 2 There's no such thing as luck. There are no fish gods and a bass doesn't stay away from your lure since you have a banana in the boat. All that stuff is in your mind. Quote
Motoboss Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Luck is when preparedness and opportunity meet. I always try to be prepared when opportunity presents itself,,,with my favorite Deep Wee R tied on. 2 Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted February 2 Super User Posted February 2 Oddly, the Japanese don't believe in karma. They do believe in Nyu-kon, which is that the object doesn't know what it is until it's broken in, and broken in right. Tackle and lures are not lucky, but they can be effective. For the longest time, my buddy Lou believed a lure wouldn't catch for him unless it had chartreuse somewhere Some time between the last two Redfish Rodeos, he threw that away, and increased his catch rate. 2 Quote
