Been working on Elton John's Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding

Having a blast and getting it down but dang, it's tough! I'll be setting the Tak back on the hook soon, it's getting into the fifties this week!

Cause Florida 🤣😂🤣

I’m outside casting right now. I couldn’t take it anymore, the farmers think I’m crazy, pretty sure. My German shepherd loves it, that’s his opportunity to sneak off 😂

The ole saying about weather in Alabama....if you don't like the weather now, wait about an hour when it will be totally different 😁

Hopefully your upcoming forecast isn't that different than mine Bob.  Gonna be t-shirt weather for close to two weeks down here.

12 days over 60 in Feb. is going to make some very dynamic fishing days.

I go on a long hike every weekend in our forest preserves (9.5 miles yesterday).  On Saturday, I was with my club at a fishing show all day.  I usually hit Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's once over the winter just to look at stuff.  Living around Chicago, we usually have a weekend or so every month in the winter where it is in the 40s.  I always spend time in the garage.  If it is mid 40s I'll wash the truck and run the motors (I don't winterize my motors).  If it gets close to 50, I'll go on a long bike ride on our paved trails.  It's rough overall but I usually fish until Thanksgiving and we have a cooling lake that opens on March 1 so it's about 3 months of no bass fishing.  If it very mild and the winds are light, I'll sneak onto Lake Michigan and try for Lakers but I'm not very good at it.  I also watch a lot of sports.  Seems to have gotten easier over the years.  Hiking really helps.

Do maintenance on my reels, reorg my lure boxes, touch ups and minor changes to Bass Trek.

This winter the main project is a powered trailer dolly. It's gonna be a 3-wheeler with the front being steering powered by a 24v go-kart motor with 2 12v-8ah AGM batteries and a PWM with reverse function.

Gotta see a picture of that when you are finished.

This is the first year where I’m doing some much needed rest and relaxation this offseason. Focusing on clean eating, moderation, consistent workouts, doing lots of reading, playing my Martin D-18, and finding I enjoy my morning coffee in silence, looking out the window at the freezing landscape.

Life has been hell the past few years and I’ve finally learned the art of finding joy in the small things, appreciating what you have, and to always stay humble.

But……….come March 1st this boy will be rippin’ the lifted V8 to the nearest cooling lake to get his first lines wet of the year and will be going hard March thru November 😎

playing my Martin D-18,

Interesting how many anglers are also musicians......in my case, bad ones......but interesting all the same. I'll never have a D-18, but I can sure appreciate one! I'm not at all surprised that so many anglers are mechanics, after all, we've been outdoors and working on our rigs our lifetimes.

Played my steel string dreadnaught all night last night!  Man that's fun!  I been trying to figure out how to do them Tony Rice chords that sound like a golden orange sunrise hitting the water in April - the surface stirring with wonder and mystery....or something like that. 😉

If you haven't listened to Tony Rice and you like acoustic guitar - you're welcome.

One of the greatest things to ever come from NC.  Rest in Peace Tony

Amazing musician.

My D18 is looking lonely and may just need an HD-28 with Adirondack top to keep her company 😜

My other hobbies take over, guns, casting, reloading, and working on my cast bullet website. I read a lot about those subjects too.

I like to whittle next to the wood stove.

Mostly Christmas ornaments and spoons.

That goes right along with my knife hobby.

I also do a lot of chopping wood when it's cold. I enjoy splitting with an axe.

Blessed to have a heated garage.  This is a 1968 Mustang I have owned since 1988.  I'm restoring it for the second time.  Next time it's my son's problem.

That’s beautiful work. Whittling is so peaceful… usually.
