I sent a Daiwa Steez 2508 spinning reel back to the Daiwa Service Department in California a few weeks ago and they ceremoniously mailed it back with a disappointing stock letter.  The reel per Daiwa was discontinued "5-10+years ago".  The letter also stated, "The parts necessary to repair reels are no longer available".  These are expensive reels, disappointed that Daiwa responded that way. Makes me second-think any purchase of a high-priced reel going forward.

If anyone has a recommendation for a good reel service contact that could fix an otherwise mint Daiwa Steez spinning reel, please IM.

Was going to suggest DVT as well.

The way Daiwa responded is a bit worrying. I was thinking of buying a few steez baitcasting reels and I don’t like the idea of them being unrepairable after 5-10 years. I keep my gear until it quits for good.

I've got a very fussy Daiwa JDM Certate with Mike at DVT as I type.

I can't opine yet on whether the reel is as good as new, but I can tell you that he stands behind his service.    That means a tremendous amount in my book.

@Delaware Valley Tackle - thanks for marking me as a 'solution', however, YOU are the solution, not us. Have a great week Mike!

THKustoms, Trey is great.  Look him up, he's on all the social media platforms. He's easy to get ahold of Instagram @THKUSTOMS via messenger.
