Hey guys,

I run Garmin for all my electronics but really like the Mega 360 and would like to add it this coming year or the next. Seems like the HELIX 12 would be perfectly capable for that it any opinions either way on that? Cabela's/BP has them reduced a lot right now. New generation coming out soon or something? Thanks!

Be aware of all the changes happening right now with Humminbird.   The larger Helix are being dropped and will not be network compatible with newer Humminbirds.   A new Helix will work for you but will they continue to update it and support it?

If you just want a standalone unit for 360 then I wouldn’t hesitate to get a helix 12.  The prices are too good and if you want 369 then hbird is the only way to get it. I’d probably consider spending a little more and getting an explore just for forward compatibility but since you already run garmin and just want this as a standalone 360 then a helix is probably a better choice with the bigger screen.

I saw the same deal and just bought one the discounted Helix 12 myself.

I had an older model Humminbird up front (859CI I think) tied to my Ultrex I Pilot link and.a older Helix 10 G2N at the driver seat running side scan.

I moved the Helix 10 up front to run the Ultrex, and mounted the new Helix 12 at the wheel to run the side scanning.

Gained 3:inches of display at the Ultrex and 2" of display at the driver seat and have the two units + the Ultrex all networked into the Ethernet Hub.

Can't beat it for the price!!

That’s exactly what I run on my 360. That’s a great setup.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I’m going to think it over and might end up just going for it. Maybe I’ll contact Humminbird and ask about future updates first. Thanks again!
