I have used them both. Both are good lines. I used Yo-Zuri exclusively for a year and a half. About midway through last year I discovered Gamma. I am now switching to all Gamma. IMO it's a notch above Yo-Zuri across the board. Both are good lines though and think you would like either one.

stumpyfd,

Welcome aboard!

I haven't fished the Gamma Copolymer, but since  KU_Bassmaster likes it, I'm sure it's great line.

If you decide to try Yo-Zuri, I recommend Hybrid Ultra Soft. This line has virtually no memory in use.

I fish #6 (11.9 lb test) on spinning tackle, #12 (19.5 lb test) on baitcasting gear.

Stumpyfd,

Welcome aboard.  Here's a post I put up a couple of weeks ago just about Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft.

Roadwarrior is the in-house guru on this line.  I found the smaller spools of it at Gander Mt.  I know Cabelas and Bass Pro have the bigger spools.  I am making a run to Cabelas in the near future to get a bunch of stuff and the UltraSoft is on the list.

Where do you guys usually buy the Ultra Soft Hybrid?

I've had to order mine from Cabelas. The BPS in Nashville does not carry it and I've only seen the regular hybrid on the BPS website but not the ultra soft. I've heard some Wal Marts carry it, not in Nashville though.

What are the diameters of the Gamma?

Are they normal size for the # test, or are they a thin line like PLine CXPremium?

I bought my Yo Ult. Soft at Gander Mountain in Winchester Va. They did not have the #6 in green so my buddy bought two of the clear in #6. He bought me a #8 in green. He knows I won't use any line but green. I have not gotten it home yet. I hope the #8 will be OK on my Stradics. What say you RW?

#8 may be okay for you, but (without getting into it again) #8 does NOT work for me with smallmouth. I have #8 on a Sustain that I fish jerkbaits on at night for walley and German brown trout. #8 is pushing it on a spinning reel, but it will probably work out alright. I hope it does.

BTW,

I prefer green, too. But I found some clear (which is NOT, it's white) on a super sale and that is all I am currently fishing. I really don't think it makes a difference. Still, I prefer green.

I hear you RW. #8 is my limit on a spinning reel as well. Its what I use here though, most of the time, because of the river I fish. Nasty. What the hey, I will try the eight and buy some #6 when I see it. Thanks.

As far as the green line, its a mental thing I guess. I HAVE to use green or I am not happy, lol. Just one of those little idiosyncrasy's of mine I guess.

stumpyfd,

Green blends with most water, it's in effect, camouflaged.
