Hawgin Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I have the Citica 200 D, and I really like it, however I am looking at the 100 DSV version to use for pitching jigs. My question is, since it does not have the High Efficiency Gearing and the smaller paddles on the handle, does this reel have enough OOMPH to horse fish out of the heavier cover, or do I need to go with the 200 size? I mostly want the 100 for it's smaller size, and reduced weight, but I'm not interest if it can not hold up to the stress of heavy fishing. Quote
Super User flechero Posted February 7, 2007 Super User Posted February 7, 2007 Hawgin, the 100DSV is plenty strong for what you want it for. It will handle heavy line, hard hooksets and big fish just as well as the 200 size. If you have any specific technical questions, PM me, I have the name and email address of a very helpful source at Shimano. Quote
Guest DavidGreen Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Hawgin, I agree with flechero it is plenty strong enough as far as gears go. The only thing you will lose is 1" per crank in the IPC ratio. Tight Lines!!! Quote
Hawgin Posted February 7, 2007 Author Posted February 7, 2007 Thanks guys. I'm glad to get two trusted opinions on this. Quote
