Does anyone have any first hand, real world experience with this line of rods? taco has been a great performer for the price rod to me.  I have had and enjoyed other TFO bass rods but at $349 MSRP these are moving into the territory of rods like the Expride. Can anyone comment on them? I have an orphaned Curado MGL that needs a rod. Thanks in advance for any insight y’all can give.

TFO looks very similar to G Loomis aesthetically. If I'm spending upwards to $400, I'm spending a little more and getting a Megabass P5. TFO was smart having general looks of a G Loomis with a small price.

I don't see the similarity to Loomis. Anyway, my thought is that if you spend $350 on a TFO and like it that's great. If you don't like it it's not going to have much value on the secondary market.

Look at the handle and the lock nut, if you can see Loomis influence, I can't help you.

Isn’t TFO owned/ operated by Loomis himself? I thought Shimano bought Loomis company awhile ago. I’d expect TFO to have Loomis influence.

@Msl819 I had TFO spinning rod about 15 years ago, very early in their existence.  I was happy with it, felt more powerful in comparison and equal in sensitivity to a M/F sc avid and was msrp slightly more expensive if my memory is correct.  Unfortunately, I snagged it on the backswing of a cast and blew it up about 10 years ago.  If you do choose any TFO rod, I think bassgeek on the youtubes offers a discount.

I think Loomis let TFO use some of his old "scrims" designs back when they were moving into the conventional-fishing rods. So they had the Garry's signature models and the GTS Garry's tactical series.  But since then I haven't heard anything about Loomis being involved in any of their series.  I've been using TFO for awhile because I work near their warehouse in DFW. I opted to pick up my latest rod from the warehouse so I could check out the showroom. I got to handle some of the centra casting rods, but haven't used one yet. I was thinking about getting one mainly because my benefit is if there's any warranty issues I can just drop my rods off in person. They also have a made in USA higher end panfish rod that I might try out first. I've been on a huge BFS and panfish rods kick lately.

Gary Loomis let them use his name for awhile. He may have had a hand in some of the designs who knows. That was between the time he sold to Shimano and started NFC.

I have their Resolve Bass in their 7’1” M+, which I really like. I found it cheap on the used market. I am wondering if their Centra is that much better or just more because it’s a Made in the USA rod.

Come on man, look at the handle and the butt at both rods and if you don't see a striking resemblance, I don't know man.
