NatPagle Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Hello, I need assistance with purchasing and installing a drag click kit. I am uncertain which model is the best on the market and would appreciate recommendations. I currently use an Abu Garcia MGXtreme 2 reel and am wondering if it would be better to order spare parts directly from Abu Garcia. Are there any specific drag click kits recommended for my current reel, such as those from models like Revo Aurora, Revo DS8, Revo MGXtreme (1st generation), Revo Ultracast, or other compatible products? If there are possibilities to transfer spare parts between different models, I would love to know more about this. I would appreciate it if you could help me find the best solution, including links to recommended products and your own conclusions. Thank you very much in advance. Quote
Bigbox99 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 You can buy kits on aliexpress for various reels. There are ones for abus but I don't know if it will work on gen 2 reels. These kits often fit reels not listed as compatible based on some reviews of the "universal" one. For many reels: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtluHyn For revos: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mOqH8Sr Quote
papajoe222 Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Questioning the need for a drag that clicks. I know it's a personal preference thing, but do you play with your drag setting while fighting a fish, or back off a certain amount of clicks at the end of the day and know exactly how many to add when using the reel again? I always set my drag a bit on the light side at the start of the day and add pressure with my thumb, if I need more for whatever reason. The more features a reel has, the more opportunity there is for one to fail and it's usually at the worst time when it does. Quote
Bigbox99 Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 I can take it or leave it and have had it on multiple reels with my 1st going a gen 3 Revo Elite. It's just a quality of life thing that some people like. It's about hearing the drag slip like on a spinning reel. It's an excitement thing when a fish is taking line. Quote
