Super User OkobojiEagle Posted December 8, 2024 Super User Posted December 8, 2024 Looking for a wake bait in the 2 1/2" - 3" length range. Anybody have one they're excited about? oe Quote
PBBrandon Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 I haven’t thrown it much but I really like the 6th sense Movement 80wk Quote
Pat Brown Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 I'm partial to the smaller rat style wake baits! 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted December 8, 2024 Super User Posted December 8, 2024 Storm subwart (2 inch version). All time best version. Rapala discontinued it when they bought Storm, but you can still find some on eBay if you look hard enough. They won't be cheap. 2 Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted December 8, 2024 Super User Posted December 8, 2024 I’m following this. I tried a wake crank last year for the first time and it was basically a sub surface jitterbug (which I’ve fished for 30+ years). Super fun to fish and worked well for me. Unfortunately the one I have is long discontinued so I’m also looking for a couple. Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted December 8, 2024 Super User Posted December 8, 2024 Anytime I throw the Rat it's exciting. 3 Quote
Super User webertime Posted December 8, 2024 Super User Posted December 8, 2024 Deos Buzzjet or Black Dog Gill first. I like the Spro Rats too but they are a bit larger than what you asked about. Quote

Kev-mo Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Was going to suggest the LC 1.5 wake but it seems like they've vanished again... Perhaps look at the LUCKY CRAFT LC 1.5WV? Also the LC 1.5 SSR. Quote
VolFan Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 CL8 Mighty Mouse is a fantastic wake bait. And you can cast it a mile. 2 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted December 8, 2024 Super User Posted December 8, 2024 Manns Baby 1- is the best I have ever used. Honorable mention as I have caught a lot of fish: Team Daiwa Scouter Crank Jackal Cherry Zero footer Bandit Foot Loose Allen 3 Quote
wdp Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Wakebaits are my jam! As mentioned, Mann’s Baby 1- was a fav of mine for many years, but seems their quality control has been suspect last few yrs. I’ve had a couple that won’t swim true no matter how much I try to tune them or they blow out when you burn them. Runner up and prob a dark horse for me is the Bass Pro Shops “ The Egg”. More affordable and a quality wakebait. Lastly, I’ve also had good luck with the SK KVD 2.5 wakebait. More expensive but has pretty loud rattles & catches em well in shallow grass. With all 3 of these baits I switch out stock trebles which aren’t the best. I’m a fan of Gamakatsu short shank trebles. They seem to not get tangled as much as the stock hooks. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted December 9, 2024 Super User Posted December 9, 2024 The Ima Rumba. It gets zero attention but it’s really affective . Quote

Tackleholic Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 I love wakebaits; I have two very full boxes and use them a lot. My all time best producer is the Berkley Wake Bull, but wouldn't you know it is now discontinued; if not, I would add more to the five I still have. 3 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 9, 2024 Super User Posted December 9, 2024 OSP Buzzin Crank. Fish seem to come unglued when this bait goes past them. 1 Quote
