It’s that time of year to bring up coffee. You can learn a lot about people when discussing coffee. Living in Washington you’re expected to be a coffee snob.  I raised this topic the last few years and learned about some great roasts out there.  Thank you CATT for tuning me on to Community Coffee breakfast roast. I have to buy it on line but it’s my everyday brew.  Stump Town, Tony’s Coffee, Black Rifle are others I enjoy.  I don’t do foo foo coffee drinks or creamers.  By the way, the word is coffee prices are going to increase again.  Name you sludge. Well, I live in Washington, so I suppose I'm a coffee snob. LOL   But...ya, I kinda am.

Starbucks is the McDonald's of coffee.  It's ok, but not great.  Most restaurants don't make coffee strong enough for me, unless it's French pressed (I love French pressed coffee!)

I like a strong cup of coffee.  The kind that makes you see sound. :)  So I grind my own. Every day.  Boca Java is my preference. I like the "Light Up Las Olas" and "Espresso" blends, plus they make a dark, rich, smoky blend called "South Beach Rhythm" that I really like.

Cheap, bitter, strong. I usually get JFG, it’s made in East TN and there used to be an iconic sign right near my house just across the TN river from downtown Knoxville. The land changed hands and the sign had to go, but luckily they put it up elsewhere since it is a historical landmark

I prefer a dark roast, black. Peet’s Major Dickason’s and Community Signature Blend are what I turn to usually. I make my coffee in a pour over that my old roommate traded with me.

Stocking Mill Coffee, Direct Action. It's a medium dark roast. The flavor reminds me of dark chocolate and caramel. Not bitter or burnt tasting, just perfect IMO. It's my favorite ever by a long shot and I've tried quite a few. Low acid also, so I can drink a whole pot without getting "coffee belly". 1 Tbs per cup, run through the Bunn. I drink it black.

My favorite is a double espresso just way it comes out.
French Press is smoother without an after taste but it’s a lot of work at 5:00 am

We also drink Community Coffee but lately the Boss has started buying Happy Belly Kona Blend K cups for a quick one
That’s also only available on line

I can’t stand any of the Starbucks blends as they taste like dirt to me.

Always black, no additives

Counter Culture Hologram is my daily driver of roasts. Roast date is on the bag so you always know when and where it got roasted. We also do Cometeer pods. They are aluminum pods so they are recyclable, and the coffee in them is absolutely fantastic. They are cheaper than a cup of Starbucks, but not cheap as pods go. They’re worth it for me, especially for hockey road trips where access to good coffee can be questionable.

I don't drink anywhere near the Joe I used to.

Retirement does that.

But when I do, it's usually for effect and happens late afternoon.

Also has to be a dark roast.

I go over pour, so 1 cup at a time.

I switch back & forth between these two.

I started using a French press about 2 years ago. I can’t go back, so darn good. It has to be beans though that I grind myself right before adding them to the press and the water 205 degrees.  Worth the wait!

At home it’s Pete’s Major Dickason’s, and yes, I’m doing my part to fill the landfills, I use K pods. When traveling we do a local dark roast via pour over. Makes it interesting to hunt down a local roaster and see what they suggest, at least in the US.

Growing up on Dunkin Donuts coffee I’ve never acquired a taste for Starpukes.

My favorite is cold brewed, using Sumatra beans, but it’s more work then I care to do these days.

Greetings and Happy Holidays All,

The morning brew is typically Pete’s Major Dickason’s using a french press. Simply good and rather simple too! Yes, just a proper brew time and enjoy as it is.

A great way to prepare for a angling adventure! Be well and cheers!

Mmmm. Coffee. Black. Like @Glenn's pic, not see-thru. Black.

Don't shoot me now, but I actually got into Folgers Classic Roast

about 10 years ago when on vacation. My sister brought some

and I was shocked at how good it was. Of course, the way I like

to brew it gives my wife a stomach ache, so she avoids it. If I make

a 12 cup pot, It is usually 8-10 somewhat heaping scoops of my

Ninja scooper (one level scoop = 2 cups).

But I love me a good triple espresso from a coffee shop.

Fresh roasted beans is more important to me than brand. I like fresh roasted within 2 weeks of roast date. I use a burr grinder and my preferred brewing method is pour over but I normally use a pot for speed, but still grind fresh for that too.

Counter culture is definitely my favorite big brand! I've been to their cupping event, pretty cool.

There's a local place called Dean's Beans that has a low acid dark roast. I use a percolator M-F and French press on weekends unless I'm going fishing

Just heavy cream for me, would love it black but even the low acid coffee is a little rough on my empty stomach.

A-Jay, I've tried the Black Rifle, and I like it. I don't care a lot for Starbucks, not that good and overpriced. My favourite coffees are dark, strong blends. I add just a touch of half and half.  No sugar.

Black Rifle is most decent IMO.

I really like the packaging ~

I agree. I bought my first bag of this coffee because I liked the packaging.

Discovered a French press like 15 or so years ago and never looked back. Probably about the same time I started drinking it black. Prefer a medium roast or light roast. Subjectively I think those have more nuanced notes. A light roast can be a bit acidy for me. I thought Starbucks best coffee was the Ethiopian. The Kenya was okay. There was one more at that time period that was discontinued that I liked. I think that was SB's heyday for coffee varieties. Altho some of their Reserve stuff is quite tasty, especially from their Clover Press.

The fresher the roasted beans the better. Burr grinder is a must.

A friend recently started roasting/selling coffee. I think he only has one or two roasts. It's good stuff!

I drink nothing but black coffee, 365 days/year.  I prefer French roast, but occasionally other dark roasts will do.  My wife hates it.  She thinks it tastes like dirt lol.  We each have our own coffee maker here at home.  She makes all kinds of weaker roasts in various flavors that I think are lame.  Right now its something like hazel nut I think.

When I am at home, I use a normal cup.  When I am heading out somewhere (work, fishing, hunting, etc), I use a 40 oz yeti cup.  It's dang near bullet proof.  It's not cheap either.
