Quick spinnerbait poll...

Always. Trim the skirt like a jig, and 98% of the time a curly tail grub trailer. 1% split tail trailer and the other 1% a boot tail of some sort. Never a trailer hook. A spinner bait is a good bait by it self and a curly tail is a good bait by it self. Good lure plus good lure equals GREAT lure! Maybe? Probably. 😂

Only if the water temperature is below 60 degrees. It helps keep the bait up in the water column and adds resistance so I can retrieve it slower. The only one I use is a Kalin's Lunker Grub.  In the day, it was an Uncle Josh pork rind.

This is just me and my lakes. I like using a trailer but 100% of all bass caught with a spinnerbait have been without a trailer.

It is my opinion too, that from my experience, I am sometimes finding it harder to feel the vibration from the blades. The vibration just seems more subdued.

I wont write them off. I know using a trailer will work some day in the future for me.

I’m another Always, but after seeing this thread I’m going to try without.

Very seldom. Only if I'm missing a bunch of bites- I usually add a trailer before a trailer hook.

Always...but that's also based on the type of spinnerbait I prefer and as mentioned above me some of the spinnerbaits out there don't have as much of a need for one as others.

Depends, if I’m yo-yoing, I like about half a floating worm. My theory is that it keeps the tail up when bouncing it along the bottom.

The "NEVER" group has surprised me.  Maybe I'll try that approach this next season, as I'm currently an "ALWAYS".  Thanks for the replies.

Never, but i always use a stinger/trailer hook. Bass short strike that spinnerbait and after many misses, I decided to try it. I landed ever last one of them. Never again will I fish a spinnerbait without a stinger hook. My spinnerbait of choice is a Megabass SV-3, built in trailer. Try an SV-3.

Always, just for some bulk. Sometimes it is just a tail of a plastic worm or a small grub. This is where my used plastics are recycled. Cut off the ripped part and use the rest.
