N.Y. Yankee Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 6-10, 12-20 pound test, What is your favorite nylon mono line and why? 1 Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted December 3, 2024 Super User Posted December 3, 2024 8 lb for spinning 12 to 15 for bait caster. Big Game cause it works for me and has since it came out. Changed a few times but always go back 3 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted December 3, 2024 Super User Posted December 3, 2024 I use Big Game for bait casting. Spinning reels been using P Line CX. 5 Quote
Tackleholic Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 6# Tatsu is a great performer, however, it is very limp and hard to see, making it difficult to tie knots with. 2 Quote
Alex from GA Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Basspro Excel. Limp, not too thick and inexpensive. 7 Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 3, 2024 Super User Posted December 3, 2024 Berkley Big Game Abrasion resistance & shock absorption 4 Quote
Aaron_H Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I'll give up my Berkley Big Game when you can pry it out of my cold, dead hands. 6 Quote

Peacedivision Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Trilene XL red box. Cheap, effective, available everywhere. 4 Quote
Hulkster Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I use Sufix Siege and Elite. they are both amazing. both are limp strong as hell with a palomar knot and cast smooth on either spinning or baitcasting gear 4 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted December 4, 2024 Super User Posted December 4, 2024 8# and 12# Sufix Neon Tangerine. See above comment. Easy to see. 1 Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted December 4, 2024 Super User Posted December 4, 2024 Sunline supernatural for me. Great knots, consistent diameter, low memory. I use 6 lb on a spinning rod, 10&12 for my crankbait/lighter casting rod, 14 and 16 on my medium and medium heavy rods. I considered some 20# but for what I use line that heavy for I want more abrasion resistance. 5 Quote

The only area I find this line to be lacking is abrasion resistance, but it's managability and overall ease is fantastic. The price is outstanding as well considering you get Sunline's QC assurances. I really only use the green 14lb, but it's perfect for cranking with. 2 Quote
Rockhopper Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Maxima Ultra Green. Its a nylon copolymer, but thats my favorite. 2 Quote

GRiver Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Berkeley Big Game, it is good line and inexpensive. I also use Bass pro excell when I don’t need a big spool it’s inexpensive as well and it acts like Big Game. 4 Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted December 4, 2024 Super User Posted December 4, 2024 I’m a Trilene XT or Big Game fan for the little that I use mono. 3 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted December 4, 2024 Super User Posted December 4, 2024 XT if I'm running mono. Low stretch, abrasion resistant, strong, handles well, affordable. Co poly? YZH. All the attributes of XT with a bit better feel. 4 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted December 4, 2024 Super User Posted December 4, 2024 Stren Original 14lb clear, only on a BC. 2 Quote

I moved my primary moving bait rod to 16 lb green and I doubt I'll move away from it. Abrasion resistance isn't critical for me in that application since most of our cover I'm throwing them around is grass. 3 Quote
