If you have weeds/weedline (even if no longer growing) I'd add a rattletrap. I'd have never thought of it as a winter bait, but last winter changed my mind bigtime.

Great video Glenn! Tis’ the season to get jiggy with it!

 

Question: You recommend 1/4oz finesse jigs to mimic crawdads. Could a heavier 3/4oz or even 1oz football jig be equally as effective or is the weight dependent upon bottom composition (soft vs. hard)?

It could be.  It depends on depth, bottom composition, wind, and current.  The general rule of thumb is to use as light a weight as possible.  I've been known to use a 1/4oz jig in 50' of water when conditions permit.
