Ohioguy25 Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 I got the #5 to swap out the regular 110 hooks, but I see the Jr are smaller. Quote

I guess you need a set of 8, 6, and five with a little lead wrap and spare split rings… Quote

I don't go down that rabbit hole hehe. The one time I bent a jr hook they got swapped with #8 gammy round bends and call it a day. I don't care about matching the exact gram factory weight. Quote
JodonFishing Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 I use number 6s…. And I have had great luck switching the front and the back to Berkeley fusion 19 trebles. Number 6s. And keeping the middle the stock megabass hook Quote

Super User DogBone_384 Posted November 26, 2024 Super User Posted November 26, 2024 I pulled this off TacticalBassin's website: "110 Junior Replacement Hook– Gamakatsu 1X Black (Size 8):" 1 Quote

That's what they have listed on their website. I bought them and can't tell a difference. There's a link to their jerkbait video on their website under 'TECHNIQUES'. It's a long, very detailed video and explains hook replacements. Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted November 26, 2024 Super User Posted November 26, 2024 The 110 Jr lineup are easily my favorite jerkbaits made, but it drives me mad that MB won't sell the replacements separately. They were nice enough to send me some replacements, but I go through hooks on these baits faster than any other. I've never found a perfect replacement hook, and I've tried lots. For your question specifically, the #6 in the Aaron Martens G Finesse Gamakatsu Aaron Martens TGW Nano G-Finesse Treble Hook | Tackle Warehouse is the closest you can get within that lineup to the OEM hooks, but they weigh more. They are significantly more robust though, and dimensionally about the same size. The Gamakatsu #8 Round Bend is closer but even still they are a bit heavier than OEM while being a little bit smaller dimensionally speaking. It sucks, I just want OEM replacement hooks....shouldn't be that hard since MB already sells replacement hooks for their 110 sized baits. 1 Quote

Which is the lesser of two evils have you found w the G finesse - too heavy or too small? Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted November 26, 2024 Super User Posted November 26, 2024 I tend to work the 110 Jr faster so I'm not as concerned having the heavier G Finesse hooks, plus I love the durability and strength of them. On the 110jr +1, I use the Gamakatsu #8 Round Bends like Tactical Bassin recommends. I actually really like the OEM hooks, and in a perfect world I could back even more down on my drags and preserve the hooks. I just have to use a little more drag than a finesse treble calls for because I've lost a number of baits/fish around brushpiles and laydowns. The reason this is obviously so important is because of weight and how it translates to the suspension of the bait. With that said, it's pretty surprising to see how random Vision 110 baits suspend straight out of the box. Some will sink, some will float, and occasionally you'll find one that suspends. Ultimately if you really go down the rabbit hole, you have to constantly adjust split rings, hooks, and play with wire/suspend dots/strips to get the baits to suspend properly across the wide spectrum of water temps anglers encounter. Imho, no other technique is more of an artform than jerkbaiting outside of maybe glides. It's the ultimate angler input bait. From creating its action on retrieve, to perfectly calibrating the baits, to finding the perfect rod/reel/line for them, they require lots of time and tweaking in my experience. A slack line jerkbait eat on a perfectly suspended and paused bait is about as high level of Bass fishing as it gets in my book. 4 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted November 26, 2024 Super User Posted November 26, 2024 I have tried the following in a size #8....G-Finesse, BKK Fang, and Ryugi Pierce. All are good. The G-Finesse, depending on water temps, to me make the bait run shallower. The BKK Fangs maybe slightly deeper and they are crazy sharp. The Ryugi Pierce seems to be the go between. I tend to order these from Japan and they are about half the price of everything else out there but you can't go wrong with any of the three. 1 Quote
rangerjockey Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 I don't know why you would change hooks on MB bait that you haven't fished. I buy the Kausauge hooks that they use from the factory . They are a great hook. The other good one is the Diachi death trap 1 Quote

rangerjockey Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Do what you think is best. Personally I'll stick with the outbarbs on a bait that gets swatted as much as a vision Quote

On TW and every other site smallest they have is 6. 1 Quote

They are not much different in size for the ones that come on the 110 jr. Quote

Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted November 26, 2024 Super User Posted November 26, 2024 Yeah I've never seen #8s in the G Finesse. They'll work fine and again dimensionally they are very close in size. It's just the weight that is quite different. Ultimately you just need to get several different hook options, and maybe a different set of split rings or two, and then start testing the baits in a sink. The #8 Round Bends and #6 G Finesse options are two great places to start. This is something you just have to experiment with. Quote
Super User king fisher Posted November 26, 2024 Super User Posted November 26, 2024 With the price they charge Megabass should include spare hooks, a ball cap, and free tickets to a Japanese baseball game. 3 Quote

I looked but couldn't find the G Finesse 6s. I thought for sure I had some. I must have used them all, which is why I have the Ryugis. So from left to right, size 5 G Finesse, 6 BKK fang, and a 6 Ryugi Pierce. The originals are on this 110jr +1. Editing this as I noticed my box of hooks is a hot mess...... The BKK is a size 8 and the Ryugi is also a size 8. Quote
