Super User casts_by_fly Posted Wednesday at 08:34 PM Super User Posted Wednesday at 08:34 PM we're getting all of that as wind and rain today. 15-20 MPH constant with gusts over 35. Supposed to get an inch plus of rain today in the next 8 hours. The ponds are half thawed and this should break up the ice pretty well (its 57 degrees). Then sunny wind for the next week plus and 65 degree highs coming up. I fished today for the first time since Sep/Oct of last year and it was the first day in the woods or water in nearly 8 weeks now. The cabin fever was real. 1 Quote

We got dumped on - between 4" and 12" depending on where in the Metro you lived...and it's the heavy, wet, heart-attack inducing stuff. 1 1 Quote

Super User Jar11591 Posted Thursday at 11:28 AM Super User Posted Thursday at 11:28 AM 50s and rainy yesterday melted most of the snow. Rivers are flowing. Lakes are getting some puddles atop the ice. We’re trending in the right direction. I’m cautiously optimistic that I’ll be fishing before April. 1 Quote

Our weather is pretty much the same, day after day after day. Living on the Atlantic really moderates. I've lived in Ohio, where Tim lives, and in the middle of the U.S., where the temperature swings are much more extreme. I've also lived on the West Coast, which is much like the East Coast, where yesterday and today and tomorrow are all pretty much the same day, weather-wise. Of course, Maritime climates do have fronts, but we can go weeks without much change, temperature-wise. Quote

Super User TOXIC Posted Thursday at 05:21 PM Super User Posted Thursday at 05:21 PM I usually come on here and boast about being able to fish year round due to having access to a nuclear hot water discharge cooling private lake (3,000 acres in 3 pools). Our average temps “normally” allow us to bundle up and go fish. This winter has been brutally cold and windy. We went to Florida the first week of February and have not been out since. I’m normally up for cold weather but this year I finally had to tell my fishing partner I’m not going to torture myself to fish. We are heading out tomorrow for the first time. Weather is supposed to be in the mid 50’s and 9mph winds. That’s pretty pleasant for winter. Quote

Super User Bird Posted Thursday at 06:18 PM Super User Posted Thursday at 06:18 PM After a loooong cold and windy winter I'm going out for the 1st time in 2025. 70's most of next week so will pick out the least windiest day. Certainly don't expect optimal water temps but just trolling around the lake casting and the anticipation of the 1st bite should restore sanity 😉 3 Quote
