@TnRiver46 I think your tape measure needs calibrated because that doesn’t look like 3”. You can keep telling your wife that’s 3” though, I won’t throw you under the bus. 😁

It's the 2 1/2" of leaves under the 1/2" snow ... C'Mon 12pound, run with it :)

Same here this morning, luckily not much wind. Supposed to be around 20 when I start work at 04:00 tomorrow morning, but they're calling for 3"-5" overnight. Good chance I'll be throwing chains to get into my first well pad. Booo..........

Update: We got around 5" overnight and the DOT plow crew apparently decided to sleep through it. I drove about five miles of snowy slippery mess, turned around, came home, and called off. I don't care if every well in the Utica shuts in, this guy ain't hauling crude in that mess.

@T-Billy, they actually plowed not my street but the next one, much better than last year. Only one icy downhill to get out to main roads this time. I saw the plow go by on this street pictured yesterday afternoon , looking pretty good today

We got about 2" of snow yesterday on top of the 11" that we got last Sunday and Monday.  It was in the mid 30s today and the weather people are saying that it should be in the low 40s tomorrow.  Hopefully it will melt some of the snow before the next cold front comes through.

Most of you guys have probably gotten more snow there the past week than I have up here all winter in MN.

I got about an inch last night. The total here thus far is about 4-5 inches since November.

It has been cold though.

@gim, the Knoxville airport reported 5.25 inches on Friday alone

Been a cold & snowy week.

Far more typical for this neck of the woods than the past few years.

These are the ones that make winter seem more like an occupation than a season.

And for the large part of the population here, it certainly is that.

I'm more of a part timer . . . .

@Jigfishn10 Yeah I’d say a decent amount. Just about 45 minutes south up in the mountains they got around 15”

we Got a 10” snow last year that didn’t melt for over a week. In 2020 7-8” of snow fell on Christmas Eve . The most I’ve seen was 2 feet in March 1993

The most I've seen in one snow event is 28 inches.  Which was Halloween 1991.  It was the first time I had ever even seen snow as a kid because we just moved to MN.

I asked my parents if it was still going to be around the next day.  haha

Past week or so we've been getting our usually 1-2 inches of snow a day, sometimes 3 inches.

Which on it's own, doesn't even really register here.

However left unaddressed it does start to add up and that's where we're at now.

So I've got 10-12 inches or so that I've been driving through,

waiting for a  'warmer' day to blast it away.

I'm not asking for much, just a bump up into the 20's would be OK with me.

Unfortunately there's more snow on the way and the forecast calls

for an extended even colder deal.

Looks like this weekend will be my best bet.

Anything outside for more than 30 minutes when it's below zero, starts getting old.

Especially with that Old Man Winter Wind in my face.

Starting to grit my teeth.  The 10 inches we have on the ground has been managed and isn’t an issue.  Cold snaps getting down to the 10 degree range are a pain but that’s why I had a cord of wood delivered.  We don’t need it for heat but it’s nice on the cold nights in the great room watching tv.  What has me nervous is the next “system” which is too far out to predict but getting very close to my 01/30 departure with a 20ft Ranger in tow, heading south to Headwaters and returning the 8th of February.  Southern ice storms are no fun.  Drove through one going to lake Lanier one trip and it was miserable.  So was the fishing.

I'm about 15 inches behind normal in the Twin Cities.  There is probably about an inch on the ground and no significant snow in the forecast either.

Going to be wicked cold up here too.

Finally blasted away the snow from the past few events yesterday.

Looks like I just made room for the next load coming in.

A cold front exiting this morning will usher in much colder air. Temperatures will continue to fall through the twenties into the teens today…with even colder temperatures expected for Sunday into early next week. Highs could struggle to reach the single digits above zero, with wind chills reaching down into the negative twenties for some. This setup will also favor a prolonged period of powdery lake effect snow starting today and lasting into early next week.

The Artic Blast is coming here as well - (Extreme Cold Warning is what the weather service is calling it)

It's minus 5 right now (minus 29 wind chill) -- but the sun is out !!

Saturday night - minus 19 air temp (minus 30 wind chill)

Sunday - high of minus 9 air temp, low of minus 16 air temp (minus 40 wind chill)

Monday - high of minus 15, low of minus 20 (minus 40 or more wind chill)

I do my best to get outside every day for at least 30 minutes of fresh air/sun/movement -- and I have acquired some decent cold weather survival gear (I grew up in MA, lived in upstate NY/lake effect snow area and now close to 20 years in MN) yet even all geared up minus 40 is challenging - have to fully cover up as any exposed skin at that temp will freeze/frostbite in less than 10 minutes - I have learned to wear ski goggles in these types of temps, otherwise your eyelids freeze shut..........

Who needs a cold plunge when you can just walk outside......

Yep, not quite as cold as you but looks like it’s gonna go below zero tonight and stay there until Tuesday.

The good news is that there’s no ticks or mosquitoes out now.

Winter Weather Advisory

Winter Weather Advisory issued January 18 at 12:46PM EST until January 19 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches.

Not a bad weather event but it stretches south down 95 which is our travel route to Florida and has more snow/ice down that way.  Hopefully it will get cleaned up by the 31st when we leave.

That’s funny. I saw a guy pushing a dumpster tipped over sideways with a JGL lift and it said “Alabama snow plow” 😆

I don't mind the snow at all but hovering around 0* - 10* sucks.

Have to get up every night around 2 and go outside and throw wood in the boiler......it can't keep up 😲
