I have a couple of questions about florocarbon.

             1)  Is the more expensive brands of florocarbon better than lets say berkley vanish?

2)The other question is when using florocarbon is there a differnece in catch rate when using 8# vs. 6# and if so why?  I have been told that sometimes when it comes to smallies that the 6# floro will catch more fish but why when floro is suppose to be almost transparent in the water so it doesn't seem like it should mater.

First off,IMO Berkley Vanish sucks and I'm not saying that after just one spool.

When you talk about line size, most people think of it as whether or not the fish can see it.Flouro is not completely invisible underwater just less visible.

Lighter line will change the fall rate, running depth, and the action of a lure compared to heavier line.

Well I have never used Berkley Vanish  so I cannot comment.

as CJ said the smaller line will change the fall rate, running depth, and the action of a lure.  On spinning gear the heavest line I every use is #6 YO-ZURI Hybrid Ultra Soft.  Which is a Fluoro Carbon/ Nylon Blend.[pre][/pre]

i hate all flouro.that said i've heard seguar and sunline are the best.flouro is not invisible but is less visible.how much is debateable.bass use their lateral line to sense objects.thinner line is harder for them to sense than thicker line.

Fluorocarbon line is something you are going to need to fish and make a decision for yourself if its right for you.  You need to look at the pros and cons of the line and see what out weights the other.  I have been messing with them for a couple of years and I still haven't figured them out.  I believe that they have a purpose and there is alot of positives but there is also negitives.  There is alot of copolomer lines on the market that are easier to work with then a pure fluorocarbon.  There is still situations that fluorocarbon will excel.  Try it out and see what works best for you.

#1 The more expensive brands seem to be more supple and easier to work with (not as stiff and has less memory).  I would still suggest a line conditioner with any brand.

#2 Fluorocarbon is what the companies call a virtually invisible line not a invisible line so the larger the diamater the more visible the line.

If your going to try the Fluorocarbon out I would suggest using: (spinning gear)

6lb Seaguar InvizX or 6lb P-Line Fluorocarbon (Sportsman Warehouse has it in bulk spools for a reasonable price) I have not fished Sunline but hear good things.  I would use KVD line conditioner and it will help.
