If your wife/husband/significant other is not into our sport, or if you’re single, you/yourself, are you going to buy yourself anything for the holidays?  As a result of my current situation, I’m not lacking in baits or gear and my wife has no clue what I would ever want, I decided to pick up a few things that I know I will use.  I have a small lanyard originally offered by Calcutta that had a few tools, eye punch, clippers, small knife, hook sharpener all on a retractable lanyard.  It is somewhat sentimental and I consider it a good luck charm since it was given to me by a fishing friend who has since passed.  I haven’t been able to find it after returning from my trip to the St Lawrence but I’m sure I will.  In the meantime, I ordered myself a new tool made by Rapala that contains a lot of the same tools and in addition a line funnel to help threading smaller lines into jigs heads, hooks, etc.  I also picked up a Gerber retractable lanyard to attach it to.  I almost got a tool that Gerber offers but it was more suited to fly fishing.  Last gift I got for me is a new travel tackle bag since my old one is over 15 years old and I have torn it to shreds.  I have based my entire travel bait boat bag on this old Plano bag because it fits perfectly in the rear compartment of my partners Ranger and of course it’s no longer made.  One of the things I really wanted was a strap closing system as opposed to a zipper.  In my planning, I can take a smaller terminal tackle Plano box and lay it flat on top of all the other Planos I loaded vertically. I can do this by just loosening the straps a little.  I found out that the Plano boxes that use the strap system are labeled saltwater because zippers clog or rust in the salt environment.  So there’s a new saltwater bag coming my way as well.  Pic is bag on my front deck.

I have the bag for few years now and it is awesome, You'll be shock to see the amount of tackle you can cary with it, It is very strong on straps and will be safe to handle the heavy weight of tackle in it.  here is what goes into mine: 5 trays and two pockets.

No!  I will not buy anything else for the rest of the year....unless a really good sale comes out......or if something I've wanted comes back in stock......or just catches my eye while out, oh screw it, I'm online shopping now.

In all seriousness, no, there is not much I want other than a few odds and ends and I am saving them to a list on my phone.  When my wife and kids ask me what I want for Xmas, I will share exactly what I would like to see under the tree.  No guarantees but this year, I will finally evade the "you are so hard to shop for" statement!

I would like a new H/F rod for frog fishing.  I have an extra baitcast reel and it seems a waste not to be using it.

@ATA I don’t lay my boxes flat, I stand them on their side.  Only the top one is flat.  I also have a 2 sided Plano that is a bit larger than normal. Can’t wait to see how everything fits.

Need a new on board charger for my cranking/starting battery.  Mine died in September after 10 years of use.

I do not plan on buying anything. I have plenty. Most things are fish are extremely easy to come by so I can buy them anytime

No, not for Christmas.  I buy what I 'need' whenever that 'need' arises.

For a crank battery, you dont necessarily need an onboard charger unless you just want one. I can go weeks/months without charging mine and when I do charge it, I just use a $20 1 amp maintainer

That's what I've been using since mine died.  It's a manual charger/maintainer worth about 40 bucks.

I still intend to replace the on board version this winter.  I'll tackle it in Jan or Feb.

I just got a 4.75" finesse worm mold and some more rods for making tubes so I should really stop while I'm ahead.

So yes, Santa will bring me some brown living rubber so I can tie jigs all January.

Nothing fishing related....planning to get a few space heaters, a small freezer and a mini fridge for my basement. Only thing currently on my me list is a bottle of Sagamore 9 year rye or a Wild Turkey 70th anniversary Jimmy Russell 8 year if I can find one, I've been looking for 6 weeks and haven't seen any.

Not fishing but kinda sorta. While at Home Depot last Saturday, noticed that they had 46” wide 9 drawer tool cabinets on sale for $298.99 ($100.00 off). She asked if I wanted one for Christmas as my 30 year old Craftsman is on its last leg. So I bought one. May buy another one, I’ve got so many tools from my racing days.

I've been debating on getting one or two to build a long wall storage system for combining my bait making and woodworking hobbies. A miter saw station would also double well for building rods me thinks.

That’s exactly what I’m doing. Building a new workshop and planning on wall length tool storage utilizing tool chests and pegboard.

I just bought myself a new PFD. I've been wearing the same one for 40 years. I also just bought @TOXIC's Gerber tether, so thanks for the suggestion. It'll go on my new PFD.
