JigNBig Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 when using baitcasters and throwing topwater like a Heddon Swayback or crankbaits/spinnerbaits/buzzbaits and other moving baits when you are making about 3 casts for about every one you make with a jig or t-rig i constantly get blisters on my palms because using different grips will not work with the 'spook. any tips or products to make this painful problem go away Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Try using A baseball Hitting Glove Quote
Vermelho Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Hmmm...in order to give the best answer, here's some questions that we might need to know: Exactly what reel are you using? Are you palming the reel? Exactly Where are the blisters occuring? Does this occur most when you are engaged in long "walking the dog" sessions with the spook? Do you have other skin problems? Thanks. Quote
JigNBig Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 im using a cheap little shakespeare reel. yes i am palming it and i can use the spook for 5 minutes and get them but im one of those guys that fishes topwaters all day. and they are mainly on the top of my palm under my pinkie and ring fingers Quote

castaway Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 buy some mole skin cut it to size and stick it over the skin that you get blisters, or change your rod and reel, if your working tha top water bait that hard, something is not right, blisters from a smithwick rogues,HJ12's yes, but I have never gotten them from spooks and other lures like that. :-/Ivan Quote
JigNBig Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 i will try mole skin. its rubbing on the bottom of the reel like one of the side plates that holds the spool Quote

Guest the_muddy_man Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Hey Fishing Dude I played drums for a lot of years and sometimes blisters/callusoses were very painfull A Basball Hitting glove ( sans Fingers cut em off) saved many a night for me. You may wanna give this a try Your Thumb will be exposed anyway and you can control your spool speed. I have done this practicing this winter with a Cabelas Prodigy and I stopped getting that blister on the ball of my Right hand Quote
hookem12_0 Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 If it is the rod or the reel seat that is giving you blisters, try putting a rod wrap on it. Rod Wrap is available through Bass Pro. Quote
northgabassfisher Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 or just use a bandaid and eventually your skin will get real tough there then you will not have that problem Quote
hi_steel_basser Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 or just use a bandaid and eventually your skin will get real tough there then you will not have that problem What he said. The ultimate cure for blisters are callouses. I've been a construction worker for 11 years now, so I know that ain't no lie. Quote
