newyorktoiowa57 Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 I ordered a bfs reel for use at a relatives during the holidays, and ordered it to be sent to my current place. However I am concerned that it won’t be here in the next 12 days and I am wondering if I should just have it shipped to their place instead. Has anyone changed an order address with them before? I have drafted an email but am not sure how communication will go if English is not their native language. Quote
softwateronly Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 12 days? That's almost enough time for TW. Jokes aside, my japan orders have never taken longer than a week and are usually in the 3-5 day range. JLS is not one I have ordered from before though. Maybe @bulldog1935 can chime in, he's been importing from Japan for many years. scott 2 Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted November 10, 2024 Super User Posted November 10, 2024 My JLS orders usually arrive in 4 days. 2 Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted November 10, 2024 Super User Posted November 10, 2024 There are a few factors. Some vendors have stock, some vendors restock weekly and ship around that schedule. If they ship JP Post EMS, the package will always be delayed in a USPS ISC for US Customs. If they ship courier, they can arrive as quickly as 40 hours, because the couriers handle their own US Customs. Ali Express? Generally takes a couple of weeks, possibly more - they fill a shipping container, import through a Customs broker, ground freight to delivery post office. Whomever you bought from, try using their tracking, but I wouldn't risk e-mail to change delivery address. 1 1 Quote

Super User bulldog1935 Posted November 10, 2024 Super User Posted November 10, 2024 get tracking from them - if they haven't shipped yet, might be worth e-mailing, but the holidays are 2 weeks away. If they arrive in 4 days, you'll receive the reel at home with more than a week to spare. Quote
Eric 26 Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 I’ve ordered 3 reels from JLS on 3 different occasions and it never has taken more than a week with 2 being delivered in 4 days same as @Tennessee Boy 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted November 10, 2024 Super User Posted November 10, 2024 It's always been a week or less with them. Once it hits Yokohama, its usually three days to my house. They do respond to emails but it takes a few days. Also, I think they are closed on either Sunday or Monday (US). Their English is limited but they are usually very helpful. 1 Quote
newyorktoiowa57 Posted November 10, 2024 Author Posted November 10, 2024 So I should probably just leave it then? I need it to get here the Wednesday after next since I am leaving the following day. Quote
newyorktoiowa57 Posted November 12, 2024 Author Posted November 12, 2024 Seems to have shipped already so all good. 1 Quote
newyorktoiowa57 Posted November 18, 2024 Author Posted November 18, 2024 Crazy that both rod and reel arrived from Japan by Friday when I ordered them over the weekend. Quote
