CrazedL.IFisherman Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I have a 7 foot Berkley Lightning Rod thats heavy casting, i also have the braid...just bought sufix performance braid 30Ib test so the diameter is .11''/0.29mm. So i have 2/3's of the puzzle and just need a Baitcasting REEL that can handle heavy line like this braid and also heavy mono and fit well with the rod, any suggestions would really really help and i thank you guys- Jon Quote

Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted February 1, 2007 Super User Posted February 1, 2007 sounds like a revo SX to me braid ready and smooth 2 gear ratios also Quote
Hawgin Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Well, I know the revo's are getting good reviews from everyone using them, but they've only been out for a few months so I will reserve judgement for now. I would personally recommend you look at either the Shimano Cruxius, or even better the Citica. Top quality reels, proven over time, strong company standing behind them. If something goes wrong Shimano will stand behind their product, and that's important for a student so you don't have to pay to replace a reel if something goes wrong. Now that I've done my duty as a posse member, I would also tell you to check out the Quantum Accurists. They are good reels, but I personally don't like how they fit my hand, but you may be different. My buddy uses Pinnacles and swears by them. There are quality choices available, but my experience with all these reels would lead me to Shimano. Quote
hi_steel_basser Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 A Quantum Accurist is a good reel, as well as the citica. If you get an Accurist, get PT. They have better gears in them than the ones that aren't PT. If you'd rather save your money, I saw a baitcaster at wally world that looked pretty good. It was a Pinnacle Inertia. 55$. 9 ball bearings, and like 7-8 oz. I don't own one(or any other pinnacles), but it looked like a really nice reel for the money. I may buy one myself just to see how good it is, if I can't find a guinea pig on here. ;D Quote

He fishes almost exclusively with pinnacle reels, and I think he owns a couple of the inertia reels. I know he's a big fan of them, except for the fact that he can't find anyone around here to service them. Quote
