So, my fishing season is over and I'll be putting the winter cover on the boat and jacking up the trailer this week-end. Prior to covering the boat, I'll be emptying all the tackle I have in it. Prior to putting that in storage, I do a quick inventory to see what I'll need to replenish during the off season. That's when I begin to put together a Christmas/Birthday list. If I'm looking for a new reel, or rod I'll start searching the web for what I like, I don't need another combo, but that never deterred me.  I'll save the bait monkey a visit and give him a courtesy call and we'll go back and forth until either Christmas, or my birthday in early Jan. roll around.  If by some slim chance the wife or kids don't get me something off the list, then I just gift myself.

Whadaya think? Too early??? I could hold off until after election day................

I suggest not putting the boat away yet.  I'll be out several more times this year and maybe even chase some lakers on Lake Michigan.

I was wondering about this, With the new Mercury 4-stroke engines, it’s essential to lower the motor after use to ensure all water drains out. Doing this helps protect your motor, allowing you to keep fishing without risking damage to your boat correct? So I should be able to keep fishing as long as I do this?

@Junk Fisherman The 10 day looks like a lot of south/sw wind and warmer temps.  I'm hoping for another month.

Chasing waterfowl this weekend. Probably keeping the boat in the garage this winter...need room in the shop for old truck project.

Christmas list includes a sand-blast cabinet, and a bed / cab hoist (you can see where my mind is...)

I winterized my boat on Monday.  We received 3 inches of snow yesterday.  Its over here.

On the xmas wish list, you can have a running list all the time if you choose.  I celebrate Thanksgiving first though.

Same thing I want every day - peace on earth and health and well being for myself and the people I care about.

That being said, I would really love to try one of those castable fish finders.  Be neat for locating sneaky stuff at the featureless no boats allowed snaggy weird little public ponds I fish.

I want a true heavy flipping stick for braid and pads etc.  I want to be able to horse 12 pounders out of lily pads and don't have a rod for that.

I'd like to get the DRT klash 9 In a nice green gizzard Shad color.

I'd like to get a wooden musky size jitterbug in Black with proper hooks and hardware and such.

Might get one of those new Shimano scorpion reels from digitaka.  They look super sweet.

Kind of want to get a couple sproKing daddies to play with and maybe a couple of the spro rats.

Maybe this year I will finally get a few molds for soft plastics and start recycling. Some of my old used up plastics that I've got in Old coffee cans on a shelf.

I'd like a workbench with great lighting where I could fiddle with my tackle. That's it.

I've done quite well in November over the last few years.  And since tournament season is over, there are a lot less people on the water.   Might even head to Clinton for a day if the weather looks favorable.

10-4 on that flipping stick. I bought myself a 7.5 extra heavy/ fast GLX which I was surprised by how light of a rod it was. But it will bomb a 3/8 also, another surprise. For me its use is gonna be hydrilla. Weird thing though, many states are killing it off.. it changes the fisheries for sure. I threw a Met 100 spooled it up with 22 pound Daiwa J Flouro Samurai and that just put this rod over the top for me. Good luck with whatever rod maker you choose, there are many out there..

Here’s to good health 🥂

Me too.  Two times out of the last 4 years, November ended up being my best month for quantity of quality.

I’m okay with my season being over. All the lakes around here close after October 31 for fishing. Making a list (and checking it twice) and lining up a couple of major projects will get me through the holidays and the projects will keep me busy until the lakes open in the spring.

I wish Santa would come to my house, grab the Bait Monkey and drop him down some other anglers  chimney.

I started making my list three month's ago.  The problem is that I keep changing it.

Nothing wrong with a work in progress. My marriage is 53yrs. old and it keeps changing, but I still have a marriage.

I hope to get a new rod rack to hold the combos I got for all the birthdays I had this year.

Throttle back on your birthdays. Too many birthdays each year and you'll be living in Geezertown lickety-split!
