I just purchased a Falcon Original spinning rod for $75 ( 6'6", med. 1pc.). This is my first Falcon ( and my most expensive rod, plz don't laugh) and I wanted to know what my fellow BR.commers think of this brand; specifically my choice of Falcon rods above. I will be using this to throw smaller crankbaits, topwater plugs, and maybe an occassional jig. Did I get the right rod for the money?

you can never go wrong with a Falcon. I hate to say it, but you bought the low end of the Falcon rods. That is not a bad thing, because in my opinion all falcon rods are good rods. they make so many different rods it will make your head spin. I physically went down to the plant and had them tell me what rod fit, for what I was needing. Now that I have beefed up falcon, I also have a few shimano rods that I absolutley love. and in some cases feel better that my falcon's. They are also cheaper and have a life time warenty at Bass Pro. The main thing is how does the rod feel for you. I have two 71/2 ft berkley's that I can not live without. the only difference is the eye lets and I will replace them when they go bad. Good luck and remeber it's the (polically correct)  person and not the arrows. (althogh having staighter arrows will help)

that's the kind of feedback i was hoping to get.  I knew that i was getting the low end when i picked that one.  I figured if i liked the original then i could trust the brand overall.  Also, my wife has no concept of how much money can really be spent on a rod so convincing her to let me spend $75 on any rod was quite an accomplishment.  I can't wait to put this rod to the test.

I have some Falcon rods and love them.  I have low riders and caras.  I would think that they are all good rods.  Made here in the USA also.  St. Croix cannot even claim that anymore.

Have several Cara's and a few Lowriders.  I have never had one complaint about Falcon products, or service.  Their website gives a ton of info about their products and will help you decide which rod is right for you.  Most Falcon owners are pretty loyal to the line, that speaks volumes for the product.  Doubt that you will be disappointed with the rod.

I have a Falcon Cara and a Falcon Cara Reaction rod, the Reaction lineup is new and I see no difference from the Cara.

If anyone knows the differences of the two, Cara's and Cara Reactions?

Also, if anyone is looking to buy a Falcon, I found a cheap site to get them on, that has free shipping.

The Cara and Cara Reaction are basically the same except the Reactions are tailored for crankbaits and have slow to moderate tips.  Good rods.

I have fished Falcon Rods exclusivly for the last 9 years.  I now have 23 of them.  I will never own another brand.  You have made and excellent choice.  In the future you may want to think about going to Cara's.  This will offer you a lighter rod that will also carry a lifetime warranty.  You might be able to get a slightly better rod with a Loomis IMX or GLX but then you better be ready to shell out some major dough.  If you have any other Falcon questions just let me know.

I have the same version as you, BassPonder, but the Lowrider series. I use it for the same techniques. There are other rods on my boat that I can't wait to get rid of, but that one will be there til it is no longer fishable.
