I know there are other current threads about the revo and dont want to be reptitive but I am looking at one of these 2 reels for my tax return purchase.  They are similarly priced, and I was set on getting the scorpion but now I have heard so many good things about the Revo S that I am contemplating that reel.  If anyone has used both I would welcome responses.  I fish mostly ponds, like higher gear ratios (6.3:1) and use alot of spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, t-rigs.  Thanks in advance, and RW I know go SHIMANO.

I have the scorpion and like it-ohh so light and smooth; however it comes with a very short handle on it- feels like your turning a wing-nut, I hated that.  I did change the handle for a carbon fiber one that is longer- the reel is the best I own now.  I have not used the revo so don't know about it.  The handle was spendy- $80.00 with bearings to mind you- by the time I got it.  I love that reel but it ended up being $250.00 reel after upgrades.  I am just warning you about the short handle- I had no idea it was that bad til I got the reel in hand from Japan.  Felt so goofy like I was reeling a toy or something! ;D

I've read on here before, and I'm sure someone (ReelMech) will help out with this info again, but you can buy a regular handle for one of the shimano reels, and it's pretty inexpensive to swap out to a longer handle.  Check some of the older posts on Scorpions and you can find that info.

The Chronarch 100 B handle fits the Scorpion 1000, if you want to get a lil bit more muscle you can order an 84 mm handle with oversized knobs from JapanTackle for 25 dollars more, or if you want to make it XTRA SMOOTH you can go for a 84 mm handle with 4 ball bearing in the knobs for 65 dollars more.

I just got a Scorpion MG. It is one sweet reel. I haven't had a real day on lthe lake since I got it, so I don't know how the handle will feel against the rest of my tackle. It is short, but I got used to it fairly quickly. However, I will probably change it out before long. Where would I get a Chronarch MG handle at and what would it run? I assume it will work on its twin brother. Oh, to answer the original ? here, This is my first Japanese reel. It won't be my last. I'm sure the revo is great, but I'm hooked on the Japanese stuff now. BRING ON THE BAIT MONKEY ;D
