Super User Koz Posted October 22, 2024 Super User Posted October 22, 2024 Tonight around sunset I took my dog outside and as usual I saw dozens and dozens of baitfish balls near the surface throughout the creek channel. But this time bass were just blowing up everywhere on the baitfish, Some of the bass looked to be good size as they launched themselves out of the water. I ran inside and grabbed a rod and a tackle tray with lipless crankbaits that I can cast a mile. Unfortunately, none of the action was within casting distance. I thought about my AP 120 kayak, but it was trailered and with the water level low I didn't feel like hauling it over the sea wall. What I forgot about was my old pedal drive kayak stored in one of my sheds. But tomorrow night I'll be ready of the bass are blowing up again. 3 Quote

Super User Tennessee Boy Posted October 22, 2024 Super User Posted October 22, 2024 Every time I find bass schooling up on bait I catch 3 or 4 and feel like I should have caught 50. It’s exciting and frustrating at the same time. 4 Quote
Functional Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 recently tried tripping a jerkbait through that mess during a feeding frenzy and I couldnt get my lure back in the water fast enough. No lie 3 casts was too many without a fish. My dad had an important phone call sitting in the back of the boat during one blow up....got so frustrated he pulled the bad service technique and hung up to get fishing 🤣 4 Quote

Super User GreenPig Posted October 23, 2024 Super User Posted October 23, 2024 Don't forget a 3/4 oz jigging spoon can be cast a long long way and is good for bait chasers. Quote

Got home late the next day and made a few casts with my new Cashion FFS rod and new Daiwa Procyon reel. I’ve been getting home after dark since. But I have two days off later this week and I plan to spend them fishing and watching the Yankees win. 1 Quote
