Super User MN Fisher Posted October 22, 2024 Super User Posted October 22, 2024 When I found out that Zoom had discontinued the 'Fluke Tailed Goby', I found a place that still had a number of packs left and basically bought them out. 1 Quote

Glad that worked out for you. Can’t ever get a good heads up what companies do these days. Most of them are only the name. The companies are not run by the folks that ran them when we were younger. Culprit is a good company with a good product. I use to fish a lot of their old 4.25” worm. Than they dried up and are not available these days but was able to get around that a couple of different ways. I'm a St. Croix fan boy, just the way I fell into wanting to fish with better rods years ago. We don’t know one another, just a long time repeat customer but got a few freebies over the years from them that don’t amount to crap but as a company I’m satisfied with what I use. I’m always the last one to know new news but I just heard yesterday that they were bought out and not a family business anymore. I don’t know if that is good or bad. I liked that they were USA built rods now throw Mexico made in there. But this buyout may have taken place a long time ago and most likely I’m just late to the party in finding out. 1 Quote

News to me - I know Dobyn's got sold, but St Croix is still 'advertising' "Family Owned" on it's website, and there's nothing in the financial news about it. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 22, 2024 Super User Posted October 22, 2024 All my hard lures are discontinued and about half the soft plastics since Iovino isn’t making them. My jigs are my own and pork rind jig trailers. Sunline Armilo is no longer available🤬 Tom 1 Quote

I would have thought my source may have been decent. Local shop who is a St. Croix dealer. They have not talked well of them lately and not keeping up with being a full line dealer. Might be bad blood there. Oh well, not for me to know that story. But in my case as far as product availability there is another shop who is fairly local also that is full line dealer and does keep a great supply of St. Croix rods and will get you what you in short time. You are most likely correct. Hope so. Don’t want to ask much about their grievances. The shop use to be a Loomis dealer also. Not a Loomis rod in the place anymore. I don’t know. Thanks for posting your findings. Quote

My and my father did some damage with these in black back in the day. I know you can kinda replicate it with a tube rigged backwards but its not the same. If any of you have some stocked away let me know. All the ones I find on ebay are colors I dont think anyone wants (including me). Those thing actually work. People made fun of them because of the cheesy infomercial . I still have some and have one rigged and ready for my next trip because of your post. I even have the two spinnerbaits that came with the kit but never caught anything with it. Quote

I dove deep into Ebay after my post and wound up with a potential purchase of almost $80. Had to talk myself off that ledge 😂. Still might end up with some though. Quote

PourMyOwn Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Another vote for the Mann's baby 1 minus. I'm sitting on 30 of them, thankfully. Same with mudbugs, Bandits, and old Bombers. (The new ones are just ok) 1 Quote
10,000 lakes Bassin Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Terminator frogs? I just saw a few at my local store for $4. Should I grab a few? 1 Quote

Hook2Jaw Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 The YUM Kill Shot. I still have a stockpile, they were my original dropshot confidence bait. The YUM Craw Chunk 3.75 has been removed from the line, that plastic in the Craw color on the back of a half ounce jig is responsible for my PB and so many giants. I don't know what I'll trailer my jigs with when I run out. Quote
Standard Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Berkley Wakebull. I stopped in to a random tackle shop up north a few years ago and bought one, not even knowing at the time what the hell a wake bait was. Turned out to be an amazing lure for the areas I usually fish, caught some d**n nice smallmouth on it. Stopped at the same shop the year after, they had a single one in stock so I bought it as a backup. Didn't think I had to worry about it being discontinued so I didn't give it too much thought.. when I wanted to grab a few more, out of stock everywhere! I've picked up a few different wake baits, but that Wakebull has always been a slump buster for me. 1 Quote

Super User TOXIC Posted October 24, 2024 Super User Posted October 24, 2024 Yamamoto DShads in bubblegum, goby and perch. They are discontinued colors but there’s still a lot of leftover stock out on the market. If you like those colors like me, you better grab them while you can. Did anyone get a good read on the line of hardbaits that Yamamoto offered at one time? I thought they would be hot baits and ordered a lot of them and took a couple of every style and color and added them to my baits but they got discontinued before I could really give them a try. Now I have a pretty big box of them all opened. Quote
