After buying my first JDM zillion I think I spoiled myself. The bait monkey talked me into buying at least one more by the start of the season next year. I’m wondering if I can hold off a little bit and maybe wait until the middle of this winter or next spring to buy one or two more? Would it be silly to wait and maybe miss out on the crazy low prices we can get right now?

Biggest price influencer for us is typically the yen rate.  If you find someone that can predict exchange rate, please let me know.

Manufacture and distribution costs are not going to go down.

Spend what you can afford. The prices may go up or down. I bought two regular and one HD in August and fished them all.

Would you recommend a HD for frogging? I’m wondering how much of a difference the HD makes

Physically the important parts are basically the same and won't be too different reliability wise.  The brakes and spool are different (Magforce Z) and I feel that's a superior brake.

JDM Zillions have aluminum gears, all HDs have brass. Otherwise the same reel. I love it for punching and frogging.

So there no drawbacks of the HD like casting distance etc?

The HD is going to basically be bomb proof. I’ve used mag z back when the TDZ reels were around, still imo the best reels Daiwa ever made. The HD model will likely bomb a bait further than you’ll ever need to. For the record I’m all in on Shimano since Daiwa went all in on the Twing but I’m very familiar with Magforce Z. Superior to any other braking system on the market.

Buy as many as you can now.  The exchange rate is going to change drastically in the near future.  I heard this from a leading expert on international trade.  This expert is a very nice guy and willing to share his vast knowledge of world markets.  He does look familiar, short, bent over with lots of hair.  I know I have seen him before, but can't quite place the face.

The spool is deep but will bomb lures heavy enough. I throw toads in heavy slop on it and they fly.

I bought by first ever JDM product.  21 Zillion SV TW.  From Japan to my house in Oklahoma in 4 days.  That’s beyond impressive.  Just started investing in higher quality reels.  My 15 year old used summer money to buy the Lews Hypermag he’d been dying to get.  He had that and 3 Shimano SLX MGLS.

I splurged and bought the Shimano Chronarch then the Zillion.  Man, I really love the Zillion.  I think most all my future reel purchases will be JDM.

Welcome, welcome....and yes, when I order from Digitaka I usually have the reel in my hand in 3-4 days...that's better than most US based stores.

Get the HD. Also welcome to the best baitcaster currently in production.😎

Could you use a HD for everything even like jerkbaits and stuff. I mean I know you wouldn’t need to but would there be any disadvantages?

You could, and it would would work just fine, but it's really not built for that. As an example it has a great big handle on it. perfect for frogs or punching.

The 2024 tatula is available in japan now, and is usually 115 or so. It has hyperdrive gears. I have one and it's not a zillion, but compared to all the tatulas that came before it is butter smooth.
