Super User FishTank Posted October 20, 2024 Super User Posted October 20, 2024 Not to brag but IU is undefeated. They are not just winning, they are blowing teams out and I find myself thoroughly confused. They went from 3-9 (1-8 in Big Ten) to whatever they are today. How? What did I miss? 2 Quote
Super User gim Posted October 20, 2024 Super User Posted October 20, 2024 As I was listening to the sports talk radio here in MN this past week, they discussed this. It is nearly 100% due to to the transfer portal. 20 of their 22 starters on both sides of the ball are transfers, including 8 from the previous team that the head coach was at (James Madison I think they said?). I have not seen them play but what they did to Nebraska today was a butt whoopin. That being said, the transfer portal is a joke. It’s essentially free agency for college sports. It’s become way too loose. They need to make players sit out for a year again if they want to transfer. 3 Quote
Super User Bird Posted October 20, 2024 Super User Posted October 20, 2024 Nebraska was touted as a much improved program especially after blowing out the Buffalo's. Indiana didn't seem to care and showed little respect. They've been a nice story. 1 Quote
VolFan Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 They are pretty good. My mom went to IU. Play Georgia or Alabama and then get back to me. 😀 2 Quote

Totally agree they have ruined the College sport by allowing them to profit off the college level sport. I miss the old days when coaches smuggle gym bags of money to the players or their mothers 🤣😂🤣 1 2 Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted October 20, 2024 Super User Posted October 20, 2024 They have a quality coach & quarterback. They are looking like a sleeper in the BT so far but they have OSU & Michigan & Michigan State on the schedule so we will see. Quote

It's not just football either. It's happening in nearly every sport. Certainly the option of NIL is playing a role, but a lot of players transfer for other reasons too. Like if they want to play for a specific coach or they don't like the color of the paint on the wall in the locker room. Recruiting transfer players has nearly caught up with recruiting players in general. Sad. Quote
throttleplate Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 That 17 year old reciever for Alabama thats allready making plays, by the time he leaves college he will have made millions. NIL, dont like it. Quote

DaubsNU1 Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Much respect to @FishTank and the Hoosiers. They completely thrashed my alma mater. I am not looking forward to facing Ohio State this week...especially after they lost to Oregon two weeks ago...and had a bye week to prepare (and get more ticked off). Ugh. 1 1 Quote
Motoboss Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 IU still roll’n, 9-0 I mean 47 points against Michigan State. Could it be,,,,,,,,,nahhh,,,,,,,,maybe GO HOOSIERS Quote

But they have two big games coming up. 1 Quote
Motoboss Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Funny thing, I’m not a big Hoosier fan. I am a born and raised Hoosier but Noter Dame is my team, even though I’m a Ball State grad. However I always root for in State Universities and any team playing Ohio State 😝 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted November 11, 2024 Author Super User Posted November 11, 2024 Well they won again. 10-0 and they moved into the top 5 in AP poll. It was not that impressive but they got it done. It seemed they had the opportunity to blow Michigan out but they made a few mistakes and the refs in the second half did not help. I saw a ton of no calls, including a hold on Michigan where an OL linemen got his finger stuck inside an IU player's jersey. My buddy was like, "Are these refs from the last KC game?" 😄 Quote
Super User gim Posted November 11, 2024 Super User Posted November 11, 2024 I was looking at their schedule and body of work last night after they won. They are 10-0 for the first time ever, so that's a nice accomplishment. However, they don't have a signature win over a quality/ranked opponent yet (unless you consider Nebraska a quality opponent, which I do not). Next week against the Buckeyes will reveal what we have here. Contender or Pretender. 1 Quote
VolFan Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 They’re definitely not nothing - they’ve been really impressive. As someone who saw a national championship season in person in college - it doesn’t matter how you win, just win. I can’t wait for Saturday. Hoosiers get an Ohio state university and we get Georgia. 1 Quote
Motoboss Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 @gimruis you definitely can’t call them pretenders, win or lose at O State. It will be “the” test of the season for them but it won’t define their whole season, just like the loss Noter Dame suffered from Northern Illinois. Has their strength of schedule been good, NO but going undefeated in the Big 10 is a major accomplishment. There are few if any teams that are going to beat O State at home this season. IU needs a competitive win (or “quality” loss) to remain near the top and would show the season isn’t a fluke. I think they understand a win and they’re playing for the National Championship. Quote

Curt Cignetti has caught lightning in a bottle...I wish them well. IU destroyed Nebraska....then, just a week later, the 'Skers went to Columbus and actually led the Buckeye's late in the game...only to get beat. And remember, Nebraska smacked Colorado around...now the Buffs are ranked, and being discussed as potential Big 12 championship caliber. What does that mean? Absolutely nothing. One thing I will say, it certainly feels like Ohio State and Michigan seem to get favorable calls from the men in stripes. Good luck Hoosiers! 1 Quote

Super User gim Posted November 23, 2024 Super User Posted November 23, 2024 Indiana 15, Ohio State 38. I think we found our answer on this one and the Hoosiers are a pretender. Not a contender. All 10 of their wins are against bottom tier Big Ten teams or non-conference cup cakes. Thanks for playing 1 Quote
DaubsNU1 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Funny thing...Indiana absolutely hammered Nebraska. A week later Nebraska was leading the Buckeyes in the 4th quarter. And then Ohio State throttles Indiana. Penn state survives vs. the Gophers. College football is getting to look a lot like the NFL....anything can happen. Quote
Super User gim Posted November 24, 2024 Super User Posted November 24, 2024 24 minutes ago, DaubsNU1 said: Penn state survives vs. the Gophers I watched the 4th quarter of it. Penn State drove the field ahead by 1 point and on their final drive they converted three different 4th downs, one of which was a 32 yard gain on a fake punt. That takes balls by a coach. It paid off and they kneeled in victory formation with 28 seconds left. 1 Quote
DaubsNU1 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Buddy @ work grew up about an hour away from State College, PA. He's so very ticked they cannot beat Ohio State...but come on man, 10 win season, and playoff bound. 1 Quote
