Super User F14A-B Posted October 17, 2024 Super User Posted October 17, 2024 Which has better feel In your opinion. In sizes 12to 25? Quote
RB 77 Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 IME, the P Line CXX is stronger, the Yozuri Hybrid is more supple, easy to handle. 2 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted October 18, 2024 Super User Posted October 18, 2024 I've used both in 15# line size. I never noticed any difference in sensitivity, but the Yozuri is easier to work with. 1 Quote

Tried it again a few years ago, and while it wasn't nearly as bad as I remember it, still not the best option. I don't think you can go wrong with either of the first two choices. 1 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted October 18, 2024 Author Super User Posted October 18, 2024 Well since the thread isn’t garnering much interest I’ll go ahead and add my findings having used both, well even CX. As to Yozuri vs CXX both lines are incredibly tough. CXX has clear/blue and a very bright neon yellow fl line. Yo has a pale yellow fl line color and clear only. I’m currently spooled up w 6 pound CXX fl yellow on my Metanium shallow spool. Imo, when you drop below 8# Yo the line breaks and kinks very easily, particularly the 6 pound. I was surprised by this. Then I spooled up one of my late model Bantams w 20# CX clear blue fl. I was truly blown away by the sensitivity and feel thru my 7.5 foot extra heavy GLX stick. I truly don’t get it but it’s true and honestly after 25 years of using Yozuri Hybrid I was like what the heck. A softer line with better feel? I use CX on my spinning reels also but it never really occurred to me to try the heavier CX line on a serious flipping rod and reel. Every rod I use is a GLX w the exception of two IMX rods all baitcast variations. Spinning is Edge or Kistler rods. So there ya go, CX wins the sensitivity on a Bantam 8.1 w GLX As far as CX I guess I’ll roll with it and 6 pound CXX on my shallow spool metanium on my 892 GLX. I’m heavily vested in Yozuri in about every weight imaginable lol. Does anyone have a theory on the CX line being more sensitive w better feel? I ordered some more because I’m out.. lol . CXX in 6 is by far a tougher line at least as far as useage on a bait caster. I’m gonna try it on a spinning reel next and see. Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 18, 2024 Super User Posted October 18, 2024 Back in mid 80’s when P-Line came out with CXX copolymer/FC blend line was very popular and less expensive the Maxima UG copolymer line. Very good knot strength, good abrasion resistance about the same memory as UG but…hook set impact strength in the 6 lb and 8lb wasn’t as good. I went back to UG and never looked back. Yo-Zuri is true co-extruded hybrid line with copolymer core and fluorocarbon outer jacket. The co-extrusion process increases the finished line diameter compared to most other brands per lb test. Yo-Zuri has kept the cost down making popular. Larger dia per lb test is a deal breaker for me. P-Line offered FluoroClear as a hybrid, FC outer jacket. FluoroClear is more expensive then Yo-Zuri Hybrid and doesn’t perform as well imo. CX is a FC Copolymer blend like CXX but softer with less memory to target spinning reel users Tom 1 Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted October 18, 2024 Super User Posted October 18, 2024 Cxx is the most wiry line I have ever tried. And if you try it, make sure you buy by diameter. The 10# cxx is 0.014” which is the same as 12# big game (a bigger diameter line in its own right), and would be equivalent to 18# supernatural (if they offered 18#). 2 Quote
