IMG_0998.jpeg.189ad06d79f28fe4103a575b49912de2.jpegI have been Neko Rigging this UV craw . 1/16 ounce weight in the bottom and have been putting a glass rattle on the head. Using a size 1/0 or 2/0 hook coming up from the bottom. It stands straight up in a defensive position at rest and comes through the water really natural. Thought i would share . Can’t take credit for this seen it on Bassgeek. Really worth a try. Works with both the magnum or regular size. Or any craw with a worm body

I have been looking at trying this technique out; however, I got my butt kicked last Saturday by a guy using a Neko rig I never thought of.  I told him I was going to put it on here he just laughed and said, 'go ahead".  Anyway, we were fishing a large creek last Saturday.  We were about 40 yds apart and he was whacking them.  Here is what he was doing . . . he had a 4" twist tail grub with a 1/16 oz nail weight inserted, used an o ring, and a drop shot hook.  It was a Neko grub and he was killing the fish.  He rigged me one up and second cast bang a nice 14" smallie.

I’ve mentioned before here that a ton of baits work really well as a neko bait. Spunk shads, flukes, craws, and the list goes on. The new neko hack tools also make rigging things like reaction innovation beavers super simple.

I’ve moved almost completely away from just using a worm because I can change the presentation so easily to find out what the fish want.

Bass Geek should have a bigger following, guy is in depth and actually fishes on his channel instead of just pushing certain baits.  Brush hog Jr and Paca Craws work reall well too.  The first nice bass i ever caught on a neko was on a Brush hog.  Same deal, dip the tails and use a light weight.

I’ve never heard of him. Which is probably more a symptom of the YouTube algorithm than his content. I like YouTube but the times I’ve heard tourney anglers just regurgitate tactical bassin instead of thinking for themselves worries me.

You can wacky rig anything. You can neko anything. Throw literally any plastic on a free rig or Texas rig. Don’t let some dude on YouTube tell you what’s best.

The problem is TB has done videos consistently as long as YT had existed, they are like the Simpsons of the YT fishing community, if you can think of it, they likely have a already covered it.  If someone has had success or does something the same way they do, it doesn't necessarily mean they're just parroting them.  The reality of YT fishing, along with tourney guys who do YT, means topics will often overlap, especially if they are new or popular.  When the neko rig became popular everyone had a video on it, same thing with the Tokyo rig.  I don't watch much YT fishing vids anymore, but IM sure some guys are ripping them off purposely.  TB is really consistent with their vids, so its not that hard to tell when someone is purposely ripping them off.

Of course you can rig any plastic any way you want.  You can also put mustard on anything, might not taste good, but you can do it.  Some baits have just performed really well for me, where other baits have not.  Of course, I can only relate my personal experiences.

TB Youtube channel started in 2010.

I started the Bassresource Youtube channel in 2008.

I launched BassResource.com in 1996.  Long, long, LONG time before bassmaster, MLF (then FLW), or any other bass fishing site in existence today.....and 2 years before Google existed.

I don't browse other fishing websites, nor do I watch other fishing Youtube channels.  Seriously, I don't.  I never want to intentionally emulate anyone else.

I stand corrected as far being around as long as YT has, but they were on before fishing on YT was popular.  In 2008 YT wasn't what is it today or what it as 10 years ago.  Most of the popular videos at the time were memes and goofy vids.  They're an OG of the fishing YT community IMO.

I never did any of that. What you see today is what I've been doing all along.

I have a full-time job outside of Bassresource.  Running Bassresource is a side-job for me, and the majority of that time is spent on running this website.  So I don't have the time to shoot and edit 3-5 videos per week like other full-time Youtubers.  I wish I had, because that would mean more fishing! :)

Whatever you do, don't Neko rig a beaver bait. That slow, gliding, spiraling fall doesn't get bit at all, nope, don't even waste your time.

^ Thanks, Clayton - I'll have to try rigging my blessed Pit Boss that way next spring. :devil1:
