Scherbacj Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Is this a problem? I just swapped a cheap Motorguide and installed a Ghost, and the Ghost lines up with the old bolt holes, but it doesn’t sit centered on the keel as recommended as you can see in the photo, when it’s deployed, it sits about 6” off centerline. I have enough room to move it over without it sticking off the side when stowed, might have to angle it a little more, but I would rather not have to drill new holes. Will this screw with the spot lock? Or make the motor less effective? Or is it close enough? I had to crop it to get the file size small enough to post, but hopefully you get the idea. Here is what it looks like when stowed. I would definitely have to angle it over the deck more if I wanted to get perfect, so I couldn’t just slide it back and drill only 2 new holes, I would have to redo all of them. Quote
mcipinkie Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Looks good to me. My Ultrex sets the same on my Skeeter and has on two others. My only concern is if enough room for the motor to move aft when you hit something. I'd go fishing. Quote
Super User Scott F Posted October 13, 2024 Super User Posted October 13, 2024 Shouldn’t make any difference at all. Here is my motor mounted on the port side of the hull. Boat tracked just fine. Quote
Super User gim Posted October 13, 2024 Super User Posted October 13, 2024 Interesting. Obviously the desired location is directly off the front of the bow when deployed but the thought of drilling new holes would be a major hurdle for me to overcome too. I’d try it and see how it works. Might be worth an inquiry to Lowrance to see what they think too. Quote

It might not look like it from the front, but it has had at least 1.5”. If I had to guess without a tape, I would say it’s 2.25” P.S. I’m not a tech guy so I hate to be critical, but a 1,000KB limit on photos is pretty small. I have to crop everything to a much smaller photo in order to make it work. Quote
Junger Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Won’t be an issue, and won’t affect spot lock. You should have a keel offset in the software to set the angle that makes the TM prop parallel to your boat. 1 Quote
airshot Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 My V bottom is off center 4-5" and has no issues tracking straight. Go fishing and show us what you catch !! Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 13, 2024 Super User Posted October 13, 2024 Normal mounting location. GPS is in the head of the Ghost and off set isn’t a factor. Tom Quote
