I've been thinking about a high speed reel. Played with some at BPS this past weekend. Liked the Summit but when looking into it the right handed model is a bit lighter and has a slower retrieve of 28" per turn whereas the lefthanded model is 31" per turn. I noted the lefthander has a wide spool. What's up with all that? I also liked the REVO SX. They are both the same price but the righthanded Revo has 31" per turn. Since I prefer the righthanded model I am leaning to the Revo as it appears faster which is the point with a high speed reel. Am I missing something here?

You will have to kick in at least a 1st round draft choice and a couple of Shimano DCs for Riskkid. ;D ;D ;D

I'm flattered Ronnie but I think you got me way overpriced.....maybe for a Citica and an old mook who has a year or two left in the pitchin and flippin arm

the wide spool model retrieves more than the narrow spool.

Thanks dodgeguy, I wonder why they put the wide spool on the lefthand model and not the right. One would think they would want both to have an equally fast retreive. Any thoughts in this regard?

their website doesn't show a lefty at all.bass pro doesn't either.maybe they just came out with the lefty.the reason it retrieves more is the line guide has to move farthur on a wide spool thus taking in more line.the narrow spool reel is smaller and lighter in weight.the narrow spool weighs less and should cast slightly better with light baits because of this.

How about the Sherriff and 2 reels to be named at a later date

I received a Pflueger Summit for C-mass. I mounted it on my Kistler Mag TS flippin stick. It's light, quiet, smooth and casts like a dream.

After looking into this further dodgeguy is right. There are two choices in the right hand model. The BPS spring master catalog shows the wide spool as a left hand model (not correct). Looks like BPS had a minor foopah in the catalog and both choices are available in the right hand version. I don't see a left hand version of this reel.

When it comes to Pflueger and Suffix Braid check with dodgeguy.....he's "DA MAN" when it comes to these brands.....I beleive he's "The Pflueger Sherriff"  ;D

The summit is a good reel as I have 4 of the pflueger supremes.  But I would go with the revo unless you want to shell out the extra 50 and get a Shimano Curado.
