My best day this season.

I went this afternoon/evening for about 4 hours an hour from my house.  It was warm and windy out, but I knew there was going to be a weather change coming.  I got on the water and could see the cloud deck coming in the distance.  There was no rain associated with this change, just a drop in air temps, thick clouds, and a major wind shift from the south to the west.

I crushed them on both a spinnerbait and a newly acquired tungsten evo chatter bait.  The terminator spinnerbait was probably a little better, but I caught the biggest largemouth of the season on the evo.  In total, I landed 19 largemouth and 5 pike.  Every bass was at least 16 inches.  I took photos of the 5 biggest, which included an 19, 20, and 21 incher.  I weighed the 21 incher and it was 5.97 pounds.

Some of you may remember a 20.5 inch prespawn largemouth I caught back in May, which at the time, was a second best PB.  This bass today replaces that one as a second best PB.  The only one I have caught bigger was way back in 2006.

Quite often, these rapid changes in weather produce a bite window and the fish become very aggressive.  That's exactly what occurred and I timed it right.  I think the fish are moving into more of a fall pattern now too here, finally.  I expect the next 2-3 weeks to be very good before I hang it up for the season.

Awesome, I’d love to hear about your PB.

I want the story of your PB too.

Here's the limp story of my PB: Hooked her trolling an underspin. Wasn't sure she was even a fish. Just heavy. Thought I might have hooked a water-logged log. When she was directly under the canoe, I still wasn't sure. I saw a flash of white and went for her with my net.

When I pulled her up, I thought, "Huh. Who knew. Not me."

She's my avatar.

Yeah, I own the worst PB story of all time.

Mine is worse. Bottom trolling a Green Sunfish for catfish in 17' of water. Rod doubled over. Grabbed rod and nonchalantly reeled in what I though was a good sized Blue. Got it up to the boat and saw green instead of blue. Panic set in. Got it up and netted. 7 lb. 4 oz caught on live bait trolling with heavy gear. Took pictures and weight and eased her back into the river.

Ha, Bob! Our PB stories are sad. We're supposed to hook a PB on a foggy morning and she tail walks like a tarpon and shakes her head like a terrier with a rabbit in its jaws. Then she's supposed to run under our boat...twice...while making our drags squeal like just-branded pigs.

Very  true. Spent a lifetime pursuing the PB of my dreams and ended up dragging it in with heavy catfish gear. Oh well, I'll spend the rest of this lifetime chasing another!

Your descriptions are terrific. Sounds like you've seen branded pigs before, but the poor little rabbit! Dang!
