KP Duty Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 I can't believe larger companies haven't released a copy of this bait yet. They have been backordered for months at the few places that sell them, and go for $35+ on ebay. Come on Mike Siebert...whip one up! 3 Quote
Super User webertime Posted October 1, 2024 Super User Posted October 1, 2024 I LOVE those. Tiny one dude operation. 2 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted October 2, 2024 Super User Posted October 2, 2024 I have a few of them. They are fantastic when fish are hiding in cover or grass. I sent a few emails to Yukitomo since I got the first one. Very nice and busy guy. He said there is a new version coming out. Here is the video. You think the current one is in high demand, just wait. 6 Quote
RRocket Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 I asked for a 1/4oz version.... I agree though...great guy. Quote

Somewhere in my early hunt for this bait, I recall reading that 1/4oz is too light for this bait. It would not have much action and you would have to run it supper slow. I have one in a 3/8oz and it fishes like a 1/4oz spinnerbait. I can bearly keep it under the surface. They say a 1/2oz is more like 3/8 and the 3/4oz is like a 1/2. I haven't tried a 3/4oz yet but can confirm this bait stays up and falls slower than you would think. Also, for whatever reason, I catch more fish without a trailer on this bait. 1 Quote
Super User webertime Posted October 2, 2024 Super User Posted October 2, 2024 I "dragged" a 3/4 on the Lawrence in 25ft and it stayed down and caught them pretty good. 2 Quote
Super User king fisher Posted October 2, 2024 Super User Posted October 2, 2024 I have never heard of this bait, but the Monkey told me it is a magical bait, that catches giant bass when a spinnerbait, or chatterbait will not get bit. The $35 price tag keeps the Monkey in his corner for now. If they get the price below that of a Jackhammer, the Monkey will be solidly latched on to my back. Please do not post any pictures of bass over 10 pounds caught on this lure. 1 1 Quote
Big Swimbait Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Don't be fooled by the "Grass" part. I have caught fish on boat docks and standing timber. The Spunk Shad is my trailer of choice. 1 Quote

Super User king fisher Posted October 2, 2024 Super User Posted October 2, 2024 This bait looks like it would be easy to copy. I have some old spinnerbaits, laying around, I might try to make my own. 1 Quote

Super User webertime Posted October 2, 2024 Super User Posted October 2, 2024 The balance of the weight locatio in relation to the blade resistance is pretty particular. This thing falls flat like a senko when killed. A spinnerbait would probably nose dive. 2 Quote
Rockhopper Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Still looks easy enough. I am going to try it. Before I invest too much time creating a blade, I am just going to steal one off a chatterbait I never use and chop up an old spinnerbait and see how it goes. I have some cheap, old baits that are weird colors I don't like. Good to experiment with. 19 hours ago, FishTank said: I have a few of them. They are fantastic when fish are hiding in cover or grass. woolleyfooley Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Can’t wait to see the new one. I’m still trying to get my hands on the original version. 1 Quote

Super User Munkin Posted October 4, 2024 Super User Posted October 4, 2024 Guess I will have to try one? The version 2 connection from head to wire frame intrigues me more than the blade design. If anyone has a broken one that could send me the blade? Allen Quote

Super User Munkin Posted February 16 Super User Posted February 16 After bending up some of these wires I understand why they cost so much. Going to make some with the small bladed jig blade for now until the real blades arrive. These first batch are fixed wire to the head. I know how to make the swinging wire ones I just need to find some small pieces of aluminum. Allen 4 Quote

Super User Darth-Baiter Posted March 5 Super User Posted March 5 I crushed them w the Grass-Piece in Mexico. I almost cried when I snagged and lost two of them. One left! I had 1/2 oz ones and with a thin trailer it was fire. I like how the blade jiggles on any movement. Not the case w a chatter bait because the line is pulling the blade. I think it sinks horizontally. The fish would hit the moment I started the retrieve. Not immune fed to snagged tho. If I’m being honest. My friend matched me fish for fish w his Picasso spinner baits. (Great version). I took one and dropped it into my bag. 3 Quote
Fishingstickman Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I catch them down here on them on windy days or stained colored water. Like Darth mentioned I also catch the same on a SV-3 spinner bait in the same pattern. The best color for me has been the golden shiner in the 1/2 ounce. I lost a lot of fish initially with using trailers that are too stiff and slid down the hook when I hooked up. i went with the Z man and super glue and i am about 100 % on landed fish. I will try the spunk shad as I heard from others it works well and I just cant help myself. I have the new version and have caught a lot of fish in pads when I can reel fast enough to keep it moving high in the water, I wish they had it in 1/2 ounce due to our shallow water. That size outproduces 10 to one so far. I initially only bought one and then seeing how it worked in pencil grass tried for a year to buy more, I broke off on stems a few times and was able to find it and braid floats so It lasted me until the hook finally broke off. I just ordered a couple from BA Custom and will try them, they look like the blade is larger and might be easier to fish slower high in the water. I never threw a chatter bait, always threw spinner baits and never had a issue, this weekend in a derby I caught 10 fish behind people and 5 were on that bait, 5 others while dead sticking a swamp lord frog. Maybe its just new and they havent seen them as much like I have never seen a guy let a frog just sit in slop or under trees. 3 Quote
