Ok, I bought some second hand knobs from the classified section off this site thinking they would be a direct fit on my Stradic FL reels.  I rec’d the knobs and it turns out they do not have the inner core needed for mounting.  I tried reaching out to the buyer on three occasions with no reply😡

Anyway, is anybody familiar with the Gomexus 20mm knobs and the proper core needed for installation?  ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!

That doesn't make sense.

You need 7x4x2.5-mm ball bearings which will come from your old knobs, or find them from a bearing supplier (e.g. HPR bearings on ebay)

The spindle diameter is the I.D. of the bearing (4 mm).

The knob I.D. has to be larger, seats one bearing from the bottom of the knob, and the other from the top.

No, it looks as if I just rec’d the outer part of the knob.  There is a large difference between the OD of the handle shaft and the ID of the rubber knob.

What I rec’d can be collapsed by squeezing as there is no inner core.

Maybe try contacting Gomexus and see if they can get you the right info?

I tried reaching out to Gomexus on Monday and no reply.  Maybe I’ll hear from them next week???

Anyway, here are some pics with the factory knob removed from one of my Stradic FL handles.  It looks like the end cap has male threads that probably screws into the inner core that I’m missing.  So, plain shims won’t work as I need the female threaded end for the end cap to install.

yes, that's not a knob, it's the shell of a broken knob.

that's only a piece of a broken knob - make your claim - there should be no way to separate the knob shell from the knob tube - the knob tube is not a replaceable part - they are integral in a completed knob

That’s what I’m trying to determine, is it broken or is there a piece I can purchase to make them work.  Unfortunately, the person I bought them from on this site is being non-responsive for refund.  I suppose if I can determine they are indeed defective, I can then open a claim on PayPal….

I just rec’d an email from Gomexus and they do not sell the inner core and have not heard back from the seller. So  I’m going to open a PayPal claim……..

PayPal claim went through, sending them back to seller but I have to eat shipping back because the seller felt it was my mistake…….  Lesson learned, be extra cautious buying from the classified section on this site.

No forum can accept liability for classifieds listings.

Buyer Beware fits Everywhere.

In the early days of "the fiberglass renaissance", the choices were venerable rods from the '70s, custom rods from Japan, and only two cottage makers hand-rolling blanks in the US.  Backlog became so great, FFR forum devolved into gripe sessions, and one of those cottage makers got banned from the forum - and so did some of the buyers...

Absolutely this website is not responsible for the actions of certain people.....  I guess I'm a fairly trustworthy person and with that comes a risk.  It's all resolved and I'm just out the cost of shipping back to seller.  That's why I always do my transactions through Paypal as you have protection if the money is not sent via "Friends & Family".
