Eric 26 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 The Shimano SLX A is right at $99.99 and although I don’t own one I had the last generation SLX and feel it’s a great reel for the price. If you’re comfortable buying from a Japanese site the deals are even better. 1 Quote
Rockhopper Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 That would also be my recommendation for the budget oriented. I would get the HG model. If you can spring for another $30 get the SLX XT HG. Better brakes than the A model. 1 Quote

Eric 26 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 @fish_wish12 @Smirak Just posted that fishUSA has the SLX XT on sale for $99. Quote
Smirak Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 I own a few of each of the LFS and SLX line. For $100, I think they are a no brainer. 1 Quote
Brian11719 Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 5/7 of my casting reels are the Lew's LFS and it's a great reel. Especially when you can find it for $80 or under. I also have a Tournament Pro LFS and while I do keep that one on one of my favorite casting rods, the LFS is very comparable and a great deal for the price. That reel paired with a Bass X is a nice $200ish combo IMHO. 1 Quote
PBBrandon Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 Another vote for the LFS. Nothing flashy, nothing fancy. Just smooth, reliable, and can outcast any reel in its class. If you are able to spend a little more, the SLX XT or a JDM Tatula 80/100 would be a great reel too Quote
