Line looks like a slinky !

I started using P-line a few months ago on all my baitcasters. I also just started using those Senkos but noticed my line is getting twisted.  I fished plastics about 90% of the time and never had this problem (unless it was on a spinning reel) using other line. I was just wondering if it was the line or the Senkos causing this problem.  I think the line may have too much memory but let me hear from yall.

Sounds like memory.  How often do you replace the line on the spool?

Try a line conditioner like Reel Magic.

I use the P-line fluoroclear on most of my baitcasters but gave up on their fluorocarbon. Memory was pretty bad on the fluorocarbon. No "slinky" problems on the mono.

I do use KVD's line conditioner most of the time and that does help. I change my line at least every spring. Remove whatever line I added the previous time.

Line conditioner may help. You said that you have noticed this after a few months of using, IMHO, a few months is quite a long time for line to be on a reel, that may be a contributing factor.

What kind of P-line?

I actually change line weekly. I use a backing line then spool my good line over the backing so I don't burn up all my good line.

Maybe that would help you?

What kind of P-Line are you using?

I have tried their fluorocarbon and it had lots of memory.  I switched to their floroclear and had no problems.

I obviously haven't tried all brands of fluorocarbon line, but I have yet to find a pure fluorocarbon line that doesn't exhibit noticeable memory.  If your going to use it I would change my line out more often, or I would use one of the copolymers.  The P-Line Fluoroclear that many have mentioned has a copolymer core and a fluorocarbon, silicon coating so you get similar invisibility to a pure fluorocarbon line.  I use Yo-Zuri hybrid myself.  You could tie a fluorocarbon leader to a main line of braid, but braid floats while fluorocarbon sinks faster than other lines, so it depends on the techniques that you are using with this combo.

Guys, y 'all forgot to ask what line diameter he has in his reels. The heavier the line the more memory it will have.

I have found that 2 be the other way around.

You said you just started using Senko's a few months ago. When you use that bait make sure you hook is in the center of the bait other wise when you reel it in to re-cast it will roll & your line will twist.

I'm guessing after you finish the presentation your reeling the senko in quickly to get off another cast.  That will cause the worm, senko or any pastic to spin and put serious line twist quickly.

a senko casts beautifully on a baitcaster and will eliminate all line twist probelms.

Thanks for all the help.  I have 17lb P-line flourocarbon on myCurado200 worm/jig rof. Diam is 0.39mm and cost $22 for 250yds.

I have P-line flouroclear 15lb on my Diawa Zillion I use with senkos/spinnerbaits and other plugs. Diam .36mm

I have P-line flouroclear 12 on my Diawa Sol I use mainly for small crankbaits  Diam is .31mm.  $12 for 300 yrds.

I'm gonna start over and reline my reels since its been almost 2 months(roughly 40 hrs fishing) and not mix match my lures on different reels to see what happens.

I used to fish Suffix which wasn't too bad before P-line but I'm gonna try P-line again.    Just way tooooo many lines out there.  Saltwater was much easier, ALWAYS  ANDE.......

P-Line flouroclear is really good stuff, although there are several people here who feel otherwise. I would say that 17-lb Flourocarbon needs to be changed regularly to stop memory. I refuse to leave any line on my reels more than 1.5-2 months, but a heavy flourocarbon would be way too stiff way too fast for my taste. Also, ditto the comment about rigging your senkos perfectly straight and not reel them in too fast. They were actually designed to be a fluke-type bait, so fish them all the way to the boat if you are in an area where this is logical. I like to deadstick them then use them like a fluke for a few yards, then deadstick them again in the next logical place. It's even slower than the regular retrieve, but very productive. Also, if you have line twist, the best remedy for that is to let out the line behind the boat and let it untwist itself.

Well, I guess I'm just going to sound like a broken record, but here I go again:

Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft has virtually NO MEMORY in use.

I do not experience line twist using a spinning reel and soft plastics.

I ONLY replace line AS NEEDED, Ultra Soft does NOT weaken and lasts practically forever. The #12 I spooled on my main baitcasting line in April of last year has NEVER been changed or added to. My Calais is still slightly over spooled!

And finally, at any specific line diameter, Ultra Soft is SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than P-Line, any P-Line.
