Rockhopper Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Does anyone fish this area? I have limited availability this fall, but I am looking to make a short trip over from the west side. I have always heard this is a great bass lake. I would be kayak fishing with oar power. How is access? Can anyone recommend a specific launch site knowing I will be paddling? Is it too big of water for this? Is there a different lake in the area that would be better to try out? I only have experience with long lake on the Spokane river as far as the east side is concerned. Caught some nice smallies there. Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted September 24, 2024 BassResource.com Administrator Posted September 24, 2024 Use the Linde Coulee launch (Sampson's Pit) and stay in Linde Coulee. That way you can make it back to the launch safely if the wind picks up. Plenty of smallmouth and largemouth in there this time of year. A smaller lake right across from Mardon's is Corral lake which I think is better suited for kayak fishing. Perfect launch for kayakers and has plenty of largemouth - although it's hard to find any over 3lbs. Beautiful lake too. Either way, be prepared to get hung up occasionally if you're dragging lures on the bottom. 1 Quote
Rockhopper Posted September 24, 2024 Author Posted September 24, 2024 How about crab creek public access? Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted September 25, 2024 BassResource.com Administrator Posted September 25, 2024 The water is way too low for that. Use that launch in the spring/summer. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted October 5, 2024 Super User Posted October 5, 2024 The lake is way down. Glenn is spot on. If you choose to put in at Mar Don you can run the face of the dam but watch the wind direction. 1 Quote
